Hey gang,

I'm spending money like it's going out of style:eek: - just ordered the country manufacturing 2 ton dump trailer. Also ordered a rear remote kit for my TC18. Anyway, I need a length for the hydraulic hoses - I think I saw that someone used 7 & 9 feet on the wagon. Is that a safe bet for the trailer version? I'm on a semi tight schedule & would like to have everything ready to go when the trailer gets here.

Also - those who have a 3" cylinder are you happy with it or should I go to a 4"

I'd be interested in the answer on that myself - thinking about pulling my 4" off and using it on my logsplitter I'm building, replacing it with a 3" ....... figured the 3" might cycle a little quicker.

If I recall correctly I used a 10' and 12' hose (1/2") from TSC ..... they are a foot or so too long .... but I'd rather have them too long than too short. :D

I used a 3" x 24" Chief on my Country Mfg dump wagon. It is more than adequate to lift and dump a full load. The speed of the dump will depend on your engine rpm and gpm flow. I don't know how you define quick.

I used 3/8" 10' and 12' hoses but I made mine a little longer. An 8' and a 10' would work well. I have the dump wagon not the dump trailer so your hose lengths might be different.

Dumping occurs before I start to get impatient.

On my Country Mfg. 2 Ton Trailer I have an 8 foot and a 10 foot hose. I also used 90 degree fittings at the cylinder. These lengths are more than adequate.

Sounds like 8 & 10 should do the trick. Thanks guys -

I'm leaning towards the 3" cylinder as well.

Madref - will it dump even when overloaded? What kind of pressure does your Kubota put out? I'm trying to remember the pressure spec on my TC18 - I seem to recall that it was in the 1,800 psi range. I'll have to look it up.

One of the issues you run into when using a dump trailer/wagon with only one tractor is that you have to use the tractor to load and to haul. Loading with the FEL usually requires either loaded tires or some counterweight like a boxblade or what have you.

If I recall correctly Mad intentionally made his hoses a little long because he planned on welding a 2" receiver on the back of his boxblade so that he could haul the wagon without taking off the counterweight. Mad, is that correct and if so how is it working out ?

Haz,

I dunno about the 3" but I'm fairly sure the 4" will dump it when overloaded. I mean I don't have a set of scales here to check the weight but I have had mine loaded (heaped a good foot or more above the sides) with wet sheep manure and was able to dump ..... given the way it acted I'd have to say that the load was easily over 4000 lbs.

rswyan, that is correct. I have yet to do that however. Too many other things with higher priority, but I expect to do it over the winter as I will have a few hundred yards of dirt to move around next spring.

Hazmat, what do you mean by overloaded? I have filled mine with wood, dirt and rocks and it has always dumped. My B2710 has a working pressure of about 1950 psi and a flow of just over 6 gpm. The 3" x 24" cylinder has always dumped the load with no problems. I would be more worried about the structure of the wagon with an overloaded bed. I have made a few mods to my trailer and others have made similar mods and a few additional mods too. There are certain weak areas on those CM wagons that need to be addressed by the user. There are several posts describing the mods that need to be made. You are always welcome to visit and see for yourself as you are only a little over an hour away.

Thanks Madref - you answered my question. When I placed my order, the folks at Country Manufacturing said most people went with the 4" cylinder. It seems like massive overkill to me (and slower cycle time to boot) but what do I know, I'm just an engineer:rolleyes: . I have learned over the years to that a combination of calculation & real world experience gives the best solution. I'll be going with the 3".

I have followed most if not all the threads regarding the upgrades. I'm hoping the trailer makes it thru it's first job in one piece & then I can upgrade it over the winter especially your tailgate mod.
