Need ignition Key

I'm looking for a ingination key for a YM147--lost mine and have heard that a John Deer key might work. Can anyone help me with locating a key or if a JD key works (i've been told a JD 850 key might work)

I am trying to find a spare key for my YM1700. I don't know about the JD850, but my JD4400 key will not work. I have also tried a guy on e-bay and he has sent me 2 keys that have not worked. He is refunding my money as he cannot figure which key fits my Yanmar.
He claimed to be an engineer that knew exactly what would fit a Yanmar as he had being do this for twenty some years.
I must have a very unusual switch or he might not be as smart as he thinks.
I am interested if someone can tell us what works.

I also lost the key to my ym-1700 this year. I got one off ebay from a dealer in S.C. as well as some other things I needed. The key he sent appeared to be a new key and worked fine , and 2 days later I found the lost one, so now I have an extra.If you would like his ebay account name, let me know, I will send it to you.

I put after market switches in mine so just any old key won't fit

The JD850 key is an exact fit for the YM1700 if it has the original ignition switch. I lost my key for the YM1700 and bought a package of 2 JD850 keys for just a few bucks. I have no idea if they will fit the YM147 though.

There were 2 different OEM keys/switchs on the YM1700. The JD850 will fit one of them but not the other.

I recently needed to get a few keys made for a 336d. The locksmith used a harley davidson blank. Ground it down a lot but it works great.

My key broke off in the switch. Went to auto part store go a universal switch and key. Installed in 5 mins. Works perfect.

Most likely cost less than the custom one that was made.

I had ACE hardware make me a few for 1.99 each, they had the correct blanks for a 1610d.
