need info B9200DT

Hi all.......I'm a newbie here. Looking at a 90? B9200DT at a local dealership, with a Bush Hog loader, and a Kubota 60" belly mower. The tractor has 900 hrs. on it, and the dealer wants 8700.00 for the package. Is this a good deal? and is a bush hog loader any good? The tractor is in nice shape, but the loader is tweeked a little (bent or something, so that when down, it is 3'' higher on one side than the other)...dealer says he will attempt to fix, but not sure it will be 100% Please advise.....Oh also the dealer says this tractor is 21HP 4 cyl., but when I do a search on "machinery link" it says it is a 3cyl. 19 hp....I know its a 4cyl. so I am uncertain just what this thing is. He also assured me that it will run a 60" brush hog. True or false? Thanks for any help you all can provide. Kerry

According to Kubota's prior products page, it shows that the B9200DT is a 2wheel drive gear tractor with 22.5hp and was first introduced to the market in 1987.

I saw that description on the kubota website as well, but the tractor is a 4wd! Thats why I'm confused....but my main concern is the price. Would I be better off buying a newer tractor, or is 8700.00 a fair deal for a 89-90? vintage tractor with a belly mower and a loader? Also I would love to hear from someone that owns one to get their opinion on using a 60" bush hog with this tractor......HELP! time is running out for me as I need to give the dealer my decision on Tues. anyone?......

Is this tractor gear or hydro? Kubota made the B9200 with 4wd in the hydro model.
Using a 60" rotary cutter behind it might be a little bit more than the tractor will pull. I have a B2400 (24hp..18pto hp) and I've run into heavy grass with my 4ft King Kutter tha loads the engine pretty good...Iwouldn't want to try it with a 5ft cutter. But, if most of what you intend to mow is not real heavy, you might not have any trouble at all with a 5ft cutter.
A year and a half ago I purchased a used 1998 B2400 with 852hrs. It came with a 60" MMM and I added a new LA352 FEL. Out the door price was right at $13500 and was probably on the high side of what it was worth, but I needed (WANTED!!) it bad at the time so it was worth the price. I don't regret the expense at all and I've had some fun with it outpulling my Father-In-Laws new JD4115. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd think twice about it for a couple of reasons. First, a bent loader means somebody may have severly abused the loader, does not speak well for the previous owner. If he "thinks" he "might" be able to fix the loader why hasn't he fixed it already? I certainly would not buy it until after the loader was properly repaired. After you buy it he may say, "By the way we tried to fix the loader but it is going to need $500 worth of parts that you will need to pay for".

I really distrust anyone who says something "just needs a few minor adjustments or repairs". I am about to put my B7100HST on the market and you can bet I will take care of any minor items before I offer it for sale. It will be a lot easier to sell if it is clean and everything works as it should.

Secondly, if you are hogging heavy brush I think he is being overly optimistic about it being able to pull a 6 foot bushhog unless you intend to mow very slowly. Bushhogging is a lot tougher work than finish mowing.

You also said "Thats why I'm confused". As soon as I get confused I put my wallet back in my pocket and go away until the confusion clears. $8,700 is a lot of money for something that you are obviously so confused about. You aren't even sure if it is a 3 or 4 cylinder.

Keep your money in the bank and read the forums here for a while longer before you buy something.

FWIW: I bought a B8200DT gear drive almost two years ago, very clean, obviously correct 470 hours (original turf tires, paint, seat, etc. all looked good- and it ran perfectly) with a Bush Hog QT840(?) loader, 5' Deere rear blade and a post hole auger for $7350 delivered. I am totally pleased with what I got, and what it does. Of course, I tinkered with it, adding some guages and, biggest project to date, a Kubota power steering kit. The steering kit was worth the time and money, since I have to manuever a lot with a full loader bucket, and sore shoulders aren't my idea of fun. I think the 9200 is about 22.5 hp, and if the tractor has the power steering, I'd consider it a fair but not cheap price IF everything is in good working order. From what I know, this series of Kubotas are solid machines, with good service life and well constructed.
