I just agreed to purchase an L4150 TLB with an L4540 backhoe (with oil reservoir under the tractor) and a BF900 loader. I know the tractor weighs around 4000 lbs, but I don't know how much the loader and backhoe weigh.

I am getting a 12,000 lb GVWR trailer as part of the package, and I am wondering if I can pull this with a truck rated to tow 8,000 lbs. The trailer probably weighs about 1,500 lbs, so I have about 2,500 lbs left for the backhoe and loader. I suspect that the entire package may go a little over 8,000 lbs, but I am only towing it about 20 miles.

Anyone with a manual that can give me this info?

Thanks.

Lot of this depends on where you live. I have a Bri-Mar 1218 trailer that weighs 2220 and change empty.. That leaves me 9700 or so for tractor and implements. What got me was the state of CT had me change the factory 200 pound tongue weight hitch over to a 1100 pound tongue weight hitch. And in CT, any trailer over 10,000 GVW is automatically CDL req'd. The license doesn't bother me as I had Class 1 since 67 up until it is called CDL A. Check where ever you live, don't need to run into a problem when least expected.

Hello Myron - Congratulations on reaching an agreement on the L4150 TLB - as you use it and get to know the true value of the L3 model series, I'm sure you'll be happy you bought it. Weight wise, the basic tractor is approximately 4100 lb without tire ballast, the BF 900 loader adds about 1600 plus 300 or 400 more depending on which bucket it has. The backhoe adds about 1900 depending on bucket. So the total is near 8000 pounds (plus tire ballast if present - maybe 800 more). When the backhoe is removed, the subframe remains and it weighs about 400 lb.

Hope this info is helpful - I have the L4150 brochure which I'll scan and send you off-list. The weights I've listed here for the loader and hoe are "interpolated" from other experience. I think your estimate of 8000 for the whole rig is close - but might actually be a bit low. The 12,000 gvw trailer sounds about right. Your truck may be on the small side for this much freight, but will be ok if you take it easy and the trailer's brakes are in good working order.

Take care, Dick B
