Or maybe an idiot alert.

For about the 200th time I have forgotten that my front end loader had tools in it. Today I put up a TV antenna (stood in the bucket to get up high). I had all my tools in there, including my BRAND NEW cordless drill my son got me for Christmas.

Heading back to the shop I noticed a hole left where the bulldozer pulled up a tree. It was full of water. Nearby was a pile of dirt...........

Fortunately there was enough dirt that the drill was not ruined.

That was some stunt. I doubt anything like that has ever happened to anyone on this board, unless you count --

what happened to Keith
or what happened to me,
or what happened to Bird,
or what happened to Keith another time,
or ...

Well, you get the idea. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Been there done that too! I now keep a "spring clamp" on the tractor. You know the kind with red jaws and handles. When I put tools in the bucket, I clip the spring clamp on the top lip of the bucket to remind me that I have tools or whatever in the bucket. It's cheap and easy. So far no more buried shovels.

Hey, that's a great idea!

It's the ol' string-around-the-finger concept -- simple, yet effective.

I might just try a magnetic version of the same idea, mostly 'cuz I've got lots o' magnets and no extra spring clamps at the moment. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Heck, Sim, that may work for you, but I don't think it'd work for me. If I could remember to put the spring clamp on (or remember what I did with it), I could probably remember that I had tools in the bucket./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Harv, I'm trying to figure out how you rememembered where to find all those posts. I think about half the time when I get an EM telling me that someone has responded to a post of mine, I have a hard time remembering what forum it was in/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

I happened to remember a few key words that appeared in the posts I was looking for and then just used the Search page. Had to wade through a few links, but I found them fairly quickly.

Hey those spring clamp and magnet ideas sound like a good idea. However I have also dumped brush cutter and chain saw with the brush cutter blade clearly sticking out of the bucket. My problem is I'm not very observant. What I need is a siren or recorded message "Tools in Bucket... Tools in Bucket.. DO NOT DUMP tools in Bucket!!!"......
