The LBZ is still the most sought after Duramax. You are lucky. Would love one, but with my luck, it would cost me, because I would also get one that was rode hard and put away wet.

Don't mean to detract but why is that?

No emissions equipment, no DPF. Had gobs of power, went like a raped ape bone stock. I love the new LML, but if I could find a Crew cab Sierra SLT LBZ that was mint, I would be all over it!

Sorry I haven't posted back in forever, I haven't had any free time at all. When I first started reading the responses I was a little mad cause most of y'all were tellin me I messed up not getting the duramax. Well I know that. I want the duramax but I don't have the duramax. But y'all did get me thinkin and now my question is would it be beneficial to me to so called cut my losses and get the duramax rather than keep the 6.0? My situation is that I DO NOT tow or haul hardly ever, but I do have to travel a lot (2,000 miles/mo) so should I get the duramax for the high mileage ill be putting on it or is the 6.0 fine? Thanks for the help everyone! And thanks for all the responses
Keep what you have. The 6.0 will last along time if you maintain it properly. If you want serious power go with a turbo. It will not effect your fuel economy like a supercharger.

How about running your 35's with the new gearing and a programmer (you can use to recalibrate speedo/shift points also) and see??

Before spending all kinds off $$! You may be happy with it

You know you will be probably putting 2 sets of big tires on your truck a year traveling that mileage... You wont save any money upgrading to a diesel if you think your gaining mileage when you spend 2 grand a year on tires.. I personally would get a cummins powered truck, If you have a problem, which i have heard about some of the injectors on the Duramax replacement cost was like $1000 each.. Perhaps it was the older engines.. but I dont know of too many duramax engines lasting over 500,000 miles, but do know of plenty of cummins engines going over the 1 million mile mark.. Good luck on your choice !

Oh FOR PETES SAKE !!!! I am late in this thread, but what baffles me is WHY YOU WANT MORE HP WHEN YOU DONT TOW OR HAUL????!!! CRY SAKES !!! I have a Y2K GMC Yukon XL2500 with the 300 hp. 6.0 and 3.73 gears....it tows nearly 7000 pounds just fine and will easily carry a full load of passengers (8) at 80 mph all day long. CatDozer says a 6.0 is 12-14 mpg. pretty accurate. But how much $$ are you going to lose trading in your truck with the 6.0? If you don't NEED more power, hard to justify throwing $$ away. But maybe you can....

You forget that most young guys get hot rod trucks with lift kits and more hp but never use them off road. It's a hobby. Some people like model trains.
