I have a pair of wagons with wood decks and sides and hydraulic lifts. The deck is rotted through. I could probably build something with treated lumber or plastic lumber, but I was wondering if someone manufactured a polyethylene deck or tub/box that is one piece that could be used? The length of the wagon can be adjusted.

It would be nice to get some use out these wagons as light duty utility.

I hope someone can picture what I'm talking about and steer me in the right direction.

Thanks for a reply. I figure that's the only reasonable option. There is a metal dump box maker out of Canada, but it looks too pricey and too far to ship.

What about an old pickup truck bed from a junkyard? It might come with a tailgate and is easy to bolt down with existing holes or drill some new ones. Once a model get 10-12 years old, they get cheap pretty fast.

Gordon21,

I think doing it in treated lumber is the way to go. Menards seems to have the lengths I need (14 feet long, 8 feet long etc). It just seems the dimensions for a wagon lumber are different than the treated stuff, 2x3, 3x4, 3x6, 1x5 t&g etc.

I don't think I could shorten the running gear enough to use a pickup box. From 14 feet to 8 is a big change.

I attached a photo of one of the wagons, they are both Montgomery Wards from the early 1960s.
