Need to purchase by this weekend to assist with clearing some property and long term use on 10 acres of woods. Have been cutting the tops of 60 trees that were logged recently. Hauling one log at a time over the weekend was tiring.

L2501 HST, LA525 Loader, Loaded Rear R4 Tires, 6' back blade, 60" LP brush hog.

21480 OTD, with 60 Months 0%. OTD includes 6% sales tax, so base price was 20265.

thoughts, is it a good deal and a good fit?

That's a hair under than I paid for my L3200 new a little over 2 years ago with the same load out (had to load the tires later).

Loaded tires are a must. Also make sure you get the SSQA loader so you can put on pallet forks or a grapple. My bucket is probably my least used loader impliment.

What do those logs weigh? The loader only lifts 1,000lbs. Make sure you aren't pushing it to the max, that's hard on equipment. You also need proper ballast on the 3pt when using the loader even with loaded tires.

The 6' blade is not appropriate for your tractor. My 72" blade was barely wide enough to cover my tracks when angled. You always want your implements to clear your tracks (60" wide with nonadjustable R4s).

I think a 6' blade is about perfect for these L models. Mine covers the tracks and then some. If you go too wide, it's going to want to rudder the back end.

Thanks, when reviewing all the L2501 threads, the prices always seemed about 1k lower, but sometimes it's difficult to know if it includes tax or not.

I need to confirm the SSQA setup, I think I was just using the common language quick attach, and they always indicated yes, but it's not shown on the price. Is it something the dealer can modify the tractors after they are delivered? all the 2501 units I saw had the same setup, I think they have around 6 in stock.

I don't expect to haul logs with the loader, I'm cutting them up and will just throw them in the loader. I do hope to get a grapple, however, I'm going to have them add the third function later this summer.

Is it normally easy to have them throw in the 1st service or something to close the deal quickly?

Bought it. All the tractors they stock have the universal skid steer quick attach system. I did negotiate a free hat. I am one to negotiate everything, but I've been driving by this Kubota dealer (one mile from my current house) for the last 15 years and just wanted to finally do it.

We'll see how the R4 tires handle the mud this weekend...

Have fun, and let's hope the weather is nice for your outdoor work. You will be very happy with the SSQA, if and when you get a grapple or pallet forks, maybe a snow plow? One nice thing about small tractor engines is they sip fuel. If and when diesel goes to $4 gal., another plus!

R4 industrials are a compromise... Strength, carrying capacity, puncture resistance, flotation, etc. R1 ag are designed for traction in loose dirt & mud. My R4s are OK in mud, but don't self clean well. I'm sure R1 ags would do better. I do prefer my R4s all around though, don't tear up the ground too much, don't squash when I pickup heavy loads, etc.

Any thoughts on getting a standard Kubota 3rd function or getting one from another vendor. was talking to attachements and they have a special on a 3rd function valveing along with the grapple. It was about 300 less than the Kubota.

Price out the gear drive. More power. But still a great tractor. Price sounds right.
