Rear remotes would indeed work for your log splitter with a bungee cord and aern't too bad to install. A power beyond kit might be your best bet and I'm betting less money too. With it you won't need the bungee and you won't need to fiddle with control arms. Either way the right rear tire is going to come off so start eating your Wheaties. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'f I can help further feel free to PM me, I'm full of ideas.

That's a lot of $$ but I don't guess that it is really out of line. I'm pretty familiar with the contents of the kit from looking at PineRidge's site.

I'm thinking of going the route of the remote. I may need it for another application sometime. Not to worried about the rear tire. I am used to handling heavy stuff and I have had it off for the 50 hr service before. The lifting capacity of the loader helped me size this tractor. It can lift the rear wheels from my steam traction engine. http://groups.msn.com/Racerpics/huber.msnw

Andy installing a rear remote on your TC-40D shouldn't cause you any major concern. All the parts for the install will be included with the remote with the exception of a few O-rings that you may need to use over again on the end plate so don't discard the old ones to soon. Just to cover your tracks plan for a day that you'll be tying the tractor up for 3 to 4 hours and things should go smoothly for you.

Thanks for all of the info. I have always done all of my own mechanical work and have the tools so this job doesn't scare me. Where do I get the kit? The local dealer quit business.

The next closest dealer that hasn't gone out of business.

For remotes that is actually quite reasonable. Just check pricing on Green or Kuborange. Much higher from what I have heard. Remotes make a nice clean install and are easy to use for other things.

Update: Thanks to all of the help I got from the folks at TBN I have 2 rear remotes installed on my TC-40D tractor. I got online to look at PineRidge's pictures whe I was having some clearance problems with the first remote. Following the included instructions and tips from TBN the remotes went on with little trouble. As soon as the install was complete I had to try my log splitter. Works like a charm. Since the remote valves don't have a detent I hooked a tarp strap to the handle and the other end to the top link on my hitch. When I didn't need the splitter I simply unhook the strap from the top link and hang it on the ROPS. The splitter valve must have an open center that allows the fluid to pass through when the lever is on center causing no load on the pump when the splitter is idle.
BTW I went to the local Case dealer and ordered kits for the DX-40 which is the Case equivalent to the New Holland TC-40. Everything worked fine I got the parts at a good price and didn't have to drive an hour each way to get them.
