Need some advice on my pole building! Help!!

George he is saying the 6" side facing the next pole so as your reference it would be front to back. I have always notched my post and let the header sit on the post and then run a carriage bolt thru the post and header. This way the post is taking more of a load than a lag screw or carriage bolt.

Okay, I got it. My design has poles on the interior as well so that confused me.....but that's not hard to do!

Out of curiousity, for those saying the wind load is the primary stressor -- what factor are you using in your calculations for snow load? Many of us live in the northern climes, and an unheated pole barn can accumulate a LOT of snow on its roof...
