Need some assistance/Advice

Just a quick update. Put a self tapping plug in yesterday, it went in a little less than straight and when I put oil in it began to bleed oil again.

Took it out, drained the oil, and added the gasket that goes with the original plug. This time oversized plug went in straight and tightened up. Bled oil again, about a drop every 5 minutes or so.

So today, father-in-law comes up with a buddy who knows his way around a tractor. He put the same oversized plug back in but this time without the gasket. It went in straight and all was well, finally. For some reason worked without the gasket, I don't care to know why, its done.

Actually, this sounds like one of those problems that is going to lurk around and bite you in the rear end some day, when you lose all your oil and don't notice.

If a new pan is $31, I would get it, and a new plug & gasket, and change it out at the earliest opportunity.

Don't know how hard to change it will be. May ask the gentleman who looked at it. He mentioned quickly (very quickly) how you'd do it. "Take those bolts out, drop that, move drive xyz, blah blah, and done; easy to do". :laughing: Okaaaayyyyyyy. Whatever you say man.

I'm paranoid so with my nature I'll be checking it all the time. No way it just falls out and loses the oil very fast.
