Hey all
Well I have decided to sell my snow blower. Its a Erskine 780-1FM. Northwood Power Equipment has one for sale, new, for $7900.00. Northwood Power Equipment

I did list it on the classifieds here and a few other places. Northwood wants me to bring it up there so they can sell it for me. Little nervous about that. I had one guy come look at it a couple weekends ago. I put best offer in the ad. I looked at the one Northwood had. Mine was used 1 season on a paved driveway, he asked me how much, I said $5000.00. I think I scared him off. I am not going to give it away, I am just having a hard time trying to figure out how much to ask.

Let me know your thoughts,
Dennis

Hi Norm,
I could see your point if it were apples to apples. The blowers listed are the same but different. Some of the "options" listed, mine already has. But I do appreciate your input, maybe lowering the price will make it move. :p

If you can wait, SNOW, the white stuff, is what sells blowers.

Dennis,

I agree with SkunkWerx
Hang in there it's not right time to sell.
Once the white stuff starts to fall it will become a sellers market.
The buyer not in a rush right now unless it the right price (like a give away price)

meanwhile check used price's like norm suggested it should give you a ball park figure on what yours is worth.

Hey All,
Well I have had my blower listed for awhile now, and I figured with all this snow we have been getting, it would have moved. Instead, I get endless after endless emails with allot of offers. The thing is I don't think people realize what type of snowblower it is. Some people think it was made just for my Massey Ferguson. Some people think they can put it on there Craftsman lawn tractor. I had one guy that we talked back and forth, came to a price (so I thought) never heard from him again.

Pretty frustrating

Lets think a minute. 1) is it priced reasonably; 2) have you presented it the right way in your ads so buyers can tell what it really is and 3) have you run ads in the places where people who buy take a look?

There could be some softening in buying just because people have been spending their money paying $3.xx a gallon on gas.

I think its time for you to talk to that dealer again about a) pricing, b) consignment policies, c) what commission will they charge.
Chances are since they are a large reputable dealer they will do a good job for you. The main thing you need to consider is they have access to the customers that are looking to buy and can match the customers needs and tractor to your blower. Also they know and understand how to match up the tractor to the blower and geta decent $ for it.
You haven't haven't had much luck with the internet, because a) theyre tire kickers , b) they don't understand what you have and what the application is, c) theyre looking to steal it for peanuts.
I have a friend that bought a front mount Kubota blower, and with the mount kit, front PTO kit, hydralic kit and blower he spent over $6000 for a 54",installed, so I think your pricing was reseasonable.
Good luck.

PS: BTW I should have asked why in the world would you want to sell a really nice front mount blower? Have you ever blown snow with a rear 3pt ?
The older you get the bigger the pain in the neck it is.
I think if you sell it you will regret it the first big snow. I would love to have a front mount like that instead of a 3pt. And my philosophy is I buy major pieces of equipment like that to keep , unless I trade up for some reason.
Oh well ,good luck anyway.

Also, people have been spending due to the holiday season.

-I agree with TooManyRocks on this topic. Something is not quite right.
At least you have gotten inquiries. However, ask yourself why someone might think this would fit a Craftsman tractor?
Quite often I find equipment that is not described well enough.

-"Used for only 10 hours" sounds better than "used for a year"

-Dimensions, dimensions and specifications.

-Tell the sellers why it is a high-end unit, and tell them the type/size of tractors it will fit. List a HP range. tell them how much snow it can move and how fast it can move it.

-Does the warranty carry to the new owner?

-A picture is worth a thousand words, well, a good picture, or three or four.
Front , Side, back. Maybe a 4th one showing how it hooks up. Put another object near it for reference, like a pet dog, so people can see how big it really is.

-What is reasonable for a price? Personally, I wouldn't pay more than about 3/4 of what it ran new from the dealer. Consider taking offers?

-In my area Craigslist works well. Multiple pictures can be posted.
If you don't have luck locally, you might try the Manchester or Boston Craigslist, which has more viewership.

Good Luck!

I just checked out your ad on craigslist, seems descriptive enough. Good price too! My thoughts are that, money is a little tight right now for alot of people and that it is a bit narrower market for high end blowers, than the (somewhat) inexpensive 3pt units. Have you tried e-bay?

Hey all,
Thanks for all the responses.

2manyrocks:
I think it is priced very fair, I have looked around and I think its a pretty decent buy for such a quality piece. I have presented it about the best way I know. I think of it like this, if you see this, and you read a little about it, you will know what it is. If you have no clue what it is, chances are your not going to spend thousands of dollars on it. I have run the ad in a few places that I know of, Craigslist, Uncle Henry's, and TBN.

You may be right about talking to the dealer again. But at this point if it doesn't sell, owell. I don't have to sell it, I just hate to see it sit there. I have attachments that I don't use much, but I do use them. The blower would be nice but my driveway is gravel and about 1000' long, I plow with my truck. I think you are correct with "tire kickers" and "peanuts" I had one email asking if the tractor was included in that price

SkunkWerX
Thank you for the input, Most of that was in my head, but now that I see it actually written out, it makes more sense to see more of the blower in comparison to other objects. 10 hours is better then 1 winter, and specs are always good. I just took it for granted that everyone who would look at this would know what it is. Like I wrote to 2manyrocks, I just "assumed" that people would know, but we all know what happens when you "assume"

I think your correct about the money issue, its it tight with gas and oil being so much. I haven't tried Ebay. I never have really good luck on there with higher priced items. I usually just get stuck not selling the items and dealing with Ebay with fee's.

Joe48
When I bought my tractor, I bought it as a "package", with around 11 attachments, guess it depends on how you count them. The snowblower was one of them. I plow my driveway with my truck, its gravel. I could snowblow it. I don't need to sell it like I said before. I just hate to see something site around.
