There are 3 drain plugs on the 1600. One is for hydraulic fluid and it is located just forward of the steering column on the right side bottom (24mm). The the fluid was strictly hydraulic fluid and was clean / clear. My 1600 is 4WD and there is a low point under the tractor that is kind of U shaped. The plug there is smaller, 10mm and another plug on the bottom of the rear axle [bottom of hog head], 27mm. I drained from the U shaped low point first (5 gallons) came out [Very thick almost black with red tint]. The other on the bottom of the read axle drained about 1/2 - 1 gallon. The trans had 80W90 gear oil which came out of both of the drain plugs just mentioned.
Supposedly, these manual trans were originally shipped from Ford with 80W90 gear oil in the trans.
