I am going to be in the market for some new work boots for wearing both on the jobsites and on the farm. In the past I have worn Red Wings almost exclusively but didn't know if there was something else worth looking at? Comfort is of the upmost importance to me and I would prefer something to last a long time. I spend quite a bit of time out in the woods/mud/sand/dirt so they will need to hold up to a hard life. Cost comes kind of a second to me compared to the other requirements but I would like to keep it in the sub $200 range. These boots will likely be worn more or less 6-7 days a week for 8-12 hours a day. Any advice would be appreciated.

I recently bought a pair of Wolverine Durashocks with steel toes and they are more comfortable than my past Red Wings. In fact they are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned.

One other nice thing, many of the Wolverine boots are still made in America. Their lower priced boots are imported.

I would like to take a look at a pair of those, where do you find them? I have worn Red Wing and Georgia bootsand have found that one lasts as long as the other. I wear out the tops long before the soles show any signicant wear. I also prefer the Wellington pull-on style laces just don't seem to work for me. hey are always coming untied or get full of stickers and burrs. Does Wolverine make Wellingtons?

Look at the Ariat brand, they are reasonable priced @100.00 and I find them comfortable.

I recently bought a pair of Nike boots. I didn't even know they made boots but I found them in the Discount/Closeout Shoe Store in town. They are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever had. They are so incredibly light as to minimize fatigue after a long day. They are just over the ankle and have that "GoreTech" (sic?) water proofing material that really does the job. These are the only boots that I have owned in my 49 years that are actually waterproof. They have an aggressive sole design and offer superior traction in the mud. I liked them so much I went and bought three more pairs of them. I think they are actually a hiking boot but serve me well as a work boot.
One suggestion for you, wearing the boots for extended periods and 6-7 days a week you would be well served in getting two pairs of whatever boot you decide on. This will enable you to rotate them regularly extending the service life dramatically. Whatever your preference get a good quality, comfortable boot. I see people with cheap boots that are just miserable with aching feet in no time. I always buy the best shoes I can, Bostonians for dress and good tennies for knocking around. Nothing worse than foot trouble.
Good luck in your quest for that "special" boot.

Get you a pair of these Rocky 11" Cordura/Gore-Tex Wellington Boots| GEMPLER'S
They're a year round boot and really comfortable.

I also wore Red Wings for 31 years. Prices went up and quality and comfort went down. I am now wearing Chippewa boots, made in Texas I believe. Waterproof, insulated, comfortable, $160. I wear my boots 7 days a week, these have been lasting 12-14 months.

Good luck

I suffer from diabetic neuropathy. A nerve damage/disorder (in the feet) that among other things, makes it tough to find comfortable shoes or boots. It also rules out wearing "cheap boots". I've tried Carolina Boots, Red Wings, Wolverine DuraShocks and finally Timberland "Pro Series" work boots. The DuraShocks did fair to OK. But the Timberlands did the trick. I'm even able to wear steel toes again. BEst part, they last. I hardly ever managed to make a pair of work boots last a year. Current pair of Timberlands are over 2 and still in good condition. Not sure of the "model #", but they're the plainest looking boot in their line up. The work wear store where I buy them usually runs a sale or 2 every year featuring Timberland. When they do, I get mine for around $100. I'm thinking MSRP is around $130

Farmwithjunk--I feel for you. My FIL has peripheral (sp) neuropathy. He has bought I don't know how many different kinds and prices of shoes. Nothing works. He has been to all kinds of doctors, no help.
