Eddie has some good tips for travel. I always carried a xerox copy of my passport in a seperate place just in case I lost mine. You can even get on the State Dept. website and get local #'s for the American Embassy, always ask for the RSO (Regional Security Officer), the operator knows how to reach him 24/7.

DavNay, I don't think that plane crashed in China. Seems like I remember a game of chicken with a fighter jet.

Yep.. she's taking a 16 meg card that came with the camera, a 256 meg card, and a 1 gig card. At 4x6 resoloution, with no cropping she will be able to take about 1500 pictures.

Yep.. their tour guide told them to get money belt or pouches.. She has one that goes around the waist, under your pants.. many pockets, and one that is in a flat pouch around your neck, under your shirt.. They also said no purses, and to store money in small amounts in multiple places, so you aren't whipping out 200$ at once to buy something. She was told to make about 5 photo copys of her pasport main page and drivers license, and keep a copy in each piece of luggage, and on her.. etc.

As for the travelers checks.. she was told to take them.. but to watch out where she redeems them.. some places will charge a hefty premium to redeem them.. even some banks.
