Just learned that she passed peacefully with family around her. She'll be missed.
She and my father-in-law had a great run. She was 22+ years younger and they kept an active lifestyle, enjoying scuba diving, biking and other activities that kept him young. About 5 years ago, they both retired and took to being fulltime RV'ers, making a circuit around the country each year that started and ended in the N.TX area with the family for the holidays. Last year when this diagnosis fell upon them, they bought a house in an active adult community and sold the RV. They've had about as perfect a run as you could ask for, except for time being cut short.
We have lots of fond memories to keep us going.
My gig in Taiwan finishes today and I'll be on a plane home tomorrow. In my last conversation with her, we joked about the Wasabi Kit Kat bars in Tokyo. I'll buy some as I pass through, and we'll have one last laugh as the rest of us choke them down at her memorial service.
I know she'll be smiling down at us.
Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers. She lived a life well lived.
