Anyone running chains on all 4 wheels on a BX2660 with AG tires? This is my first real snow with my BX and Sno-Pro plow and I'm having a heck of a time getting traction. I can hardly make it back up the hill to plow back down. If I plow at an angle, it kicks back out. I have 260 pounds of suitcase weights on the front but it hardly helps. These look like nice chains and it they'll fit the front, I'll order 2 sets.
I'm stuck! Help!

What do you have for ballast on the rear?

Well, I started with 130lbs (2 suitcase weights) but moved everything to the front (4 weights). I have a rear blade I could add to the rear. I'm really spinning out and bumming.

Its really wet, heavy, deep snow out there today. I had same issues plowing today , so I took smaller bites to get the job done. Normally I dont have traction issues with turfs, but its so deep and heavy stuff its just takes awhile to plow.

You definitely need to put some weight on the rear, at least 300lbs, more is better. Do you have a ballast box? Getting a set of chains is a good insurance policy and dollar for dollar the chains on the site you linked are a good value. Be sure to purchase the tensioners as well.

I'm in the same boat, my issue is I need some weight up front.

I'll mention it before someone else does- Kubota does not recommend front tire chains (I thought about it, too) They have another way to discourage their use- the front steering linkage is so close to the rim, chains would need to be lengthened on the inside to fit.

You should definitely run 2-link chains on the rear.

Anyone know if there's enough clearance on the front tires for chains on my BX?

Sorry---our posts crossed. I posted before I saw your reply.
Any other options on the front? Spacers?

PS---my tires are loaded.

Forgot to add, be sure you are floating the plow blade, otherwise the front wheels will have no place to go but up.

Spacers would help but, again, not recommended by Kubota. I finally added spacers to the rear of my 2660 for stability while mowing. Not sure how much of a spacer I would add to front, especially if I used the loader for heavy loads. Probably less of an issue for plowing.

Somewhere, I have a set of chains I modified for the fronts. I recall adding three links to the inside and then needing to use a heavy duty tensioner on the outside to prevent the chains from hitting the steering knuckle. In the end, they never saw use.
There would be another benefit to the spacers if they eliminated the ridiculous lug bolts, in favor of studs and lug nuts.

Lumber,
This may be a dumb question, but did you ever check to make sure those rear tires are loaded?

Yup. I have to have the valve at 12 o'clock or some of it leaks out when I inflate the tires---stinky stuff, whatever it is. Smells like catfish bait. I've had the tires off when I added rear Brotek spacers. I could hardly move them.

I ordered the 2 link V-Bar chains for the rear. I'll see how it goes before I start dinking around with the front. I have an old set of 2 link regular chains from an old garden tractor that I might be able to lengthen with some additional chain for the front if needed.
As always, thanks for the help!

I put chains like those on my Mahindra Max 22 with Turf tires and they seem to bite really well. I do have a paved driveway with a grade that gets very, very slick too. Seems to me the truf tires and chains may actually apply more grip in this situation given the additional surface to surface contact.

My driveway is gravel (well, more like frozen mud now). This is still an improvement over the ATV. I'm thinking with the chains on the back, loaded tires, and 260lbs in suitcase weights on the front I'll get the traction I'm looking for. I am "floating" the plow, BTW. I'll be sure to report my results.

hi if you put chaine on you tractor buy the chaine the 2 run link so your tractor want bounce and put it on the rear tire

You need 350 - 400 lbs on you three point hitch to push a plow.

Without chains on the front you won't be able to steer if it gets icy.

Put chains on the rear. I have only chained up the front once on our Yanmar with a front frame mounted blade. Never bothered to chain it up on front again, more work than it was worth. If It was so icy that I could not steer, I used the steering brakes to help. V bar chains on the back works well for me.
