Need to carry tools with me* mount box on RC okay?

Sounds like you do have the factory toolbox under the hood.Mine was slap full of wrenches and such when I got it and did not seem to have any problems with stuff bouncing out.

I take my bushog thru some pretty bad stuff and I would not feel good with a toolbox bolted to it but it would probably be ok.

I did see a TO-20 that had a .50 cal ammo box bolted to one of the fenders. Looked like it worked ok.

Let us know what you come up with.

What? You don't have fenders on your tractor? Lots of aftermarket fender tool boxes..

Soundguy )

By the time the MF 35 was in production, they had a recessed toolbox built into the left fender. Later "100 series" Masseys had a fender mounted tool box. Either of those would be fine, and would stay with-in the spirit of "keeping them original".

The best toolbox I've ever seen on ANY tractor was the black boxes that came as options on John Deere tractors from the '60's until recent years. I have one on my 2440 Deere, and then bought another one, modified the mounting bracket, and have it on the front loader mounting pad on my 150 MF. It's a roomy box with a lift-out tray. Raise the lid and pull a pin, and the box lifts off the mount for taking it wherever you need it.

I would not want to mount a tool box on my RC either, due to the fact that I frequently back it into thickets of brush and low hanging branches and would be concerned about it being ripped off the cutter or opened up accidentally and have my tools bounced out and lost before I knew about it.

I would also be constantly looking back to make sure it was still there or else forget about it and need a tool only to find out they were all scattered across my property in places unknown - not worth the worry to me.

I have a small factory 'tool box' on my left fender but it only holds a few basic tools /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I would need a very large toolbox also, as my experience has been that no matter how many tools I take with me, I always need the one that I don't have /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

( There is a tray between the gas tank and the radiator. Is that put there for tools? )

The 2n toolbox is on the left side under the battery area...

I'm not sure how you would 'access' a tray betwixt the radiator and gas tank.. since the gas tank and hood are a single unit, and you access the radiator cap thru a small hole in the hood... ( no tilt hood.. )

( Are Ammo Boxes the most popular option for tool boxes? )

Theay make good boxes.. however.. as i mentioned the N's have tool boxes in other places. 8N has it behind the dash.. 2n onleft side..

This is a bad pic.. but.. look to the left of the sherman gear shift, a little below and left of the small silver bracket.. and above the starter.. that's a tool box..

My ford 5000 has a nice long fender mounted tool box. My 7610s has a nice detachable tool box on the right side of the bellhousing. My 660 has a tool box built in to the floor board.. nice big one.. My NAA has a 'bad' tool box in the floor board... I think this design is right up there with the SOS tranny..
