Need to cut a nice round 4" diameter hole in the end of steel barrels.

The ends of the barrel are thin sheet metal. A 4" bi-metal hole saw will cut that hole easily and cheaply. Check on some metal working and welding forums and you will see that many guys use them on much thicker material. I've installed four B&W turnover gooseneck hitches and used a 4" hole saw to cut the hole in the bed. Perfect hole every time.

Great advise given so far. I second the advise of not getting a super powerful drill for a hole saw.

I have a hitachi D13vg 9amp with 651 in-lbs of torque. And yeah, it will twist right out of your hands if it isnt carefull.

Why not use plastic barrels????
