Need to cut off a dead limb about 30' above ground

Its got about 300 other degrees within which if it fell it wouldn't hit the barn. Gonna take the small chance. Maybe I just made a call to Murphy??!

Haven't you heard of "Murphy's Law of Selective Gravitation"? (Things will fall where they will do the most damage.)

You are in deep trouble now!

Yea, we've been lucky a few years, but just a matter of time before we get another hurricane, I am constantly trimming branches & deadwood and devised this redneck rig to assist in the task.

Just occurred to me: How do you use this? Do you have to climb over the loader? Do you drive the tractor into place & lean the ladder against the tree? You don't climb it up into mid-air, do you??!

Bep,

While you have lift at your disposal, take a look at what those trees will look like in a couple of years, make sure there will not be any hanging branches or deadwood above roof.

Good luck in your endeavor and stay safe.

It's sits on ground when using, I have been out approx. 30 deg. up 25' with ladder about 1' from tree limb to test, I,m north of 200lbs, the only give was in the ladder itself and never rested against tree branch.

When on ground, it's just a step up to access ladder. It was initiated by trying to manhandle and thread between limbs a 32' fiberglass ladder by hand. I can easily lay completely horizontal and move where I need it with just the touch of a lever

MythBusters Episode 50: Bullets Fired Up
In the case of a bullet fired at a precisely vertical angle (something extremely difficult for a human being to duplicate), the bullet would tumble, lose its spin, and fall at a much slower speed due to terminal velocity and is therefore rendered less than lethal on impact. However, if a bullet is fired upward at a non-vertical angle (a far more probable possibility), it will maintain its spin and will reach a high enough speed to be lethal on impact. Because of this potentiality, firing a gun into the air is illegal in most states, and even in the states that it is legal, it is not recommended by the police. Also the MythBusters were able to identify two people who had been injured by falling bullets, one of them fatally injured. To date, this is the only myth to receive all three ratings at the same time.
