Ha! The eight-foot bale comment made me laugh... mainly because it sounds like something I would do. I'm really glad you like your 565, and appreciate the comments about running it with a low HP tractor. I use a JD 4520 (53 hp engine, 45 hp at the PTO) that is a relatively small frame tractor, so I'll be in the same boat.

Not to beat a dead horse . . . but I'd like to hear more on how you Yanmar handles that 565. I have to say, I'm impressed. Your Yanmar is rated at 23pto hp and it pulls it with no issue?

I take it slow and easy ,it does shake the tractor a little bit but not too bad,it seems to handle it great for the size of my tractor.:D

Thanks. We'd like to start cutting for our own use and sell the rest if possible. I'd really like to invest in a larger cabbed tractor but the smart thing to do would be to invest in the equipment (used of course) and run it off my current tractor to see if I even enjoy/like/have time for it. At least if it all goes horrible wrong I'm only in for some used equipment rather than the whole deal. So my whole point for fouling up your thread is that I have a 45hp/36pto hp tractor and anytime I see some running a full size baler off of a small tractor I like to get first hand feedback and that particular set up.

By the way, what did you cut with?

I cut with a new holland haybine 469 and it does a great job and the tractor handles it great.

That is what I am doing since this is my first year at haying I purchased used equipment except my baler ,tedder, I am currently looking at up-grading my tractor to a bigger tractor .

Thanks Greg. Perhaps I will give the haybines a second look. I really need to think about pulling one around the roads with the maniac drivers. I wish I could get one of he center pivot ones but they require more hp than I have currently.
