Snowblower Need to increase PTO speed to use a Kubota B/L 2563 snowblower on a 540 PTO?

/ Need to increase PTO speed to use a Kubota B/L 2563 snowblower on a 540 PTO? #11
This snow blower was made for a tractor like mine. The L245DT has the correct PTO gearing. Your blower has a standard 540 PTO shaft. My tractor has the same PTO stub. The tractor has a three speed PTO of 540 ,750, and 1000 all on what is a normal 540 end. Went to a auction and thought I was going to get a good deal on this one off snow blower. A friend bought it for over a thousand dollars. He still has it because it will only throw snow 6 ft. on a good day.

I bought an Operator's manual and a Parts and Service Manual for that blower. They both cover a B2551, a 51" version as well.
In the "Snowblower Application Chart" the B/L2563 is listed as a "Kit" for the 63" Basic Blower for B8200 tractors. According to TractorData.com that tractor can have a 540/748 PTO and/or a 1745/2416 (hydro) mid PTO or a 2600 Front PTO. The Kubota parts listing for a B8200HST-DP tractor shows two speed-change levers but it doesn't indicate if one of them is for the PTO.
Yikes! I'm more confused now. There a many adapters and kits associated with that blower for front mounting. For a front mount there is a "speed reduction assembly" shown with sprockets and chain. By using the sprocket part numbers it looks like they have 11 and 40 teeth giving a 1:3.64 ratio. From the front-mount PTO RPM of 2600 that reduces to 714 RPM.

Bottom line: I may still have to fabricate a PTO speed increaser to boost RPM to 748. Because of the three blades vs four on most blowers I suspect it needs to turn faster to prevent the chute from jamming with wet snow which is what I experienced.
I'll investigate the size and number of blades on other blowers. Unfortunately I can't find what the diameter of the 3 blade rotor is and the unit is 500km away. Does anyone have this blower close by to measure the rotor?
The specs for the blower lists the "Fan Housing" as 18" but the "Fan Width" is a 6 7/8" (whatever that means).

After typing all of that I did some more web searching and found a free on-line manual for the B8200 tractor and it does in fact have a two speed PTO 540 and 748. Now I'm sure I'll need a speed-increaser. Once I find one or make one I'll revisit this story.

I might have missed someone mentioning this, but make sure you check rotation direction as well as pto speed. On my front blower, you need the direction reverser on the blower, too. Gears, not chains.

Per Kubota.com/parts, that blower fits the following tractors: B2150D, B2150E, B2150HSD, B2150HSE, B8200DP, B8200EP, B8200HST-DP, B8200HST-EP, L2050DT, L2650DT-WET, L2950DT-WET, L3250DT, L3250F, L3450DT-WET, L3650DT-GST, L3650DT-WET. IIRC, the L3650 did not have a multi speed rear PTO, just a single speed one.
I would bet that it is intended to run at 540RPM on a rear mount and has no problem running faster on a front mount.

I found a clue that enforces my opinion that my 540 PTO is too slow for a B/L2563 snowblower. B_L 2563 ad with PTO speed reference.jpg

If you want you can purchase a 540 to 1000 RPM speed increaser from HUB CITY to fit your mule and not have to do any work to fix the snow blower.

The smallest speed increaser being the model 390 from hub city is $808.00 as of the October 26 farm show issue.

I guess you will have to decide if buying all the new mounting hardware to make it a rear mount is worth the trouble versus a simpler rear mount 540 RPM snow caster.
