Need to move an 800+ pound concrete slab.

If the slab was poured in place with concrete mixed on site and only 3-4" thick, you may break it if you try to lift it by a corner. If there is rebar or mesh in it, you should be ok.

I'd use chain, not cable. Edges of concrete slab may cut individual cable strands.
On this old farm, which used to use horse power, I found a number of 4" diameter dowels about 4 feet long, which I believe were placed under heavy objects. As the heavy object was moved off of one dowel, it was place in front of the heavy object, to be used again in the move. Probably 3 or 4 dowels at any one time under the heavy object.
If you have a centered hook on your FEL, I think you'd not have a worry about torqueing something. Chain that slab. You may not be able to lift it, but you can diminish the weight on the ground as you drag it to the new location.
this was all good but, pull with the draw bar, not the fel.

Best,

ed

What is the plan for the slab in the new position. Very hard to move slab and have it solid in new location

Diggin It, use the BH! It has plenty of lifting power! Use your chain or cable and get it under the ends like you described. Hook them to the BH, lift it just high enough to clear the ground, and move it to where you want it. Put a load of dirt / rocks in the FEL for counter balance.
I lifted and placed a septic tank with my 125's BH.... and it was at full extension, which limited the lift capabilities some. I think you can get it done with what you have.

I thought about that, but I'm not as sure as you it will do it.

I see the digging force and breakout, but not the raw lift ratings.

Do you have quick tach forks that you put on your loader? I moved a similar size slab with my 2400H. Would barley lift off the ground but by moving very slowly in 4WD I was able to reposition. It has settled some over the years and should be releveled but this is in front of a little used out building so still does the job. I packed the gravel and put a layer of sand on hoping that would contour to concrete and it seemed to be reasonably stable once set in position. Dragging it now sure how you are going to backfill under and keep level and stable.

Either way watch your toes...

I learned here at tractorbynet many years ago when I just had a small tractor, how to move a huge boulder easily.

You get an old car or truck hood from a junkyard
I pushed the bolder unto it with the tractor.
I connected a chain on the front 2 corners of the hood.
I connected it to the drawbar.
I pulled it around the yard with ease.
The tractor was a 18hp yanmar
The boulder was an easy 1000 lbs.

Now days I own a large machine and will just pick it up with the loader to move.

Hope that helps...

rebar and mesh only keep the broken pieces together AFTER the slab breaks.

Magnatrac makes a stone boat kit onto which you bolt a piece of plywood (better pictures here) that I believe could do what you want. Similar to using an old auto hood as suggested, but purpose designed for dragging stuff around.

It would be a shame to ruin such an expensive item as a sheet of plywood to move $45 worth of set up concrete ;-)
