Looks like I have a slow leak in the hoses on each lift cylinder at the fittings. Plan to replace them before too long....I realize I'll lose a little fluid but was wondering does it matter in what position I have the cylinders? Should I have them in "float" or can I fully raise them and remove the hoses with the arms supported in the raised position?

The hoses from the control to the cylinder themselves? Keep it clean, prop the arm up very securely. Maybe do one at a time so there is Hydraulic pressure in case the unforseen happens. No reason to be in the float mode...

One thing for me was that when I replaced these hoses I got a leak in the elbows that go into the cylinders. Not sure if anyone has a fix for that, the methodology is kinda cheap IMO for that connection

Be sure you have a way to plug them or elevate the open end of the hose higher than the reservoir. If something happens and you have to let the hose down or leave something open, it can drain your reservoir onto the ground. ;)

Farmall140,

Do not unhook the hoses with the cylinders raised, you might get a shower of hydraulic fluid. Replace hoses with engine off, and lift arms on the ground. You might lose a little fluid, and of course the hoses will drain. You don't have to bleed them either, just cycle them several times.

As far as draining the reservoir, you will not, because the fluid stops at the valve, and you are changing past the valve.

He's right about that. Make sure you secure it so it doesn't fall down. That much oil can make a pretty big mess....so i've heard.
