Need to slow down PTO rpm

Seems to me the power would be straight through...

PTO shaft to input and on the other end the chunker, at least the ones I've seen.

BUT, I do have a BIG winch that's pto powered to input, and then a sprocket on the output of a truck tranny with side load. Never had a problem with it yet.

The turning /torque is straight through, but there is a whole lot of pinching and crushing going on in one of those drum parters.

Side load is minimal in my observation of the device.

I've thought about these "small wood processors" a bit. 1 cycle per second seems about right to me. I don't envision the need for a speed reducer just because I've got horse power to spare. But, there would be nothing wrong with a reducer and then using the 1000 rpm PTO. Shift the load away from the tractor parts.

Of course, a transmission driving through a simple GM truck front wheel drive wheel bearing would satisfy all requirements very simply.
