Need tractor for deer food plots

All I saw was '50 ac open fields'

Again.. I'd get a vintage one just for mowing.. then get whatever else you need . IE.. not mowing with a loader on t he tractor might be nice.

2500$ gets you a decent mower tractor.

Otherwise.. 30hp is more than enough for 5ac mowing.

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. So you would get a mower for the yard and get a tractor for the plots? That is easy I could get a good mower for what a finish mower cost. So what size tractor should I go with? Get one that is only limited by the size of the trails? Does a bigger tractor equal better stability? Should I be worried about rollovers on the trails? If a lawn mower can make can a 50-60 hp tractor make it?

what size trails do you have and what is the terain like?

I'd not get a mower that was any biggger than 1' narrower than my trails if there are trees at the edge of the trails. if no trees at trail edge.. then mower size COULD = trail size.

The trails to get to the food plot are at least 72" cause that was the size of the bucket on the bobcat I used to make it. The land is mountainous but the trails are old logging road and all the trails are straight up and down none are side hill but the very top of one. The food plot in the wood can be gotten to with a zero turn.

sounds like 2w5 tractgor territory to me.

an ford from the naa thru the 00 sereis will pull a 6' finish mower. if you want a 6' rough mower.. get a 8XX series.. or early 4cyl 4000.

probably get an 841 and 6' mower for 2500$

Haha, I was just looking at a 92 John Deere 5510 for 22K and its 69" wide and has a lot of weight 7,000 pounds which I heard was a good thing. Besides cost what other reason would go with what you said? How would a 7k tractor fair on the trails?

the heavier it is.. the more compaction and rutting. I think a 3000# tractor is a good mower for them sized trails ( 6' etc.. )

5ac? not much food plots. that small ford will drag a 2-14 bottom plow, a 6-8' disc, a 5-6' box blade and at LEAST a 1 row cultivator of some kind.. spring tooth harrow.. etc.

will pull a appropriately sized drop seeder or couple row planter.. or a big cone hopper broadcast spreader..e tc..

100ac farm USED to be ran with an N and other similar sized tractors... JD-B etc...that replaced a mule team.. :)
