This is where the Commercial Inland Marine policy comes in real handy. For a modest price of around $15 or so per thousand of insured value, you are just about blanket covered for just about anything you may do to or with your tractor, whether on or off your property. Plus it covers stuff that may seem like frills but could come in handy at some point. I would encourage everyone to ask their agent about this coverage. It may seen like overkill but its better to be safe than sorry.

BTW, I am not an agent or in the insurance business. I just happen to have an agent who also owns a tractor and this policy is what he personally has and recommends. Your mileage may vary.

I am familiar with the company... it needs to be 25 years old and only used for "display" purposes, have antique plates, etc. In 2003, it will qualify for the antique plates, but I am non certain if I can get away with using the plow on the truck and still be covered. Antique car and truck insurance is very limiting in its scope. The one time that I did have a claim with my 1934 Dodge truck, there were a lot of questions before they would pay the claim. That time, I was moving it out of the garage after as snow storm and it skidded into my truck and wiped out the pick up bed on the 1934. They originally wanted me to go against the 79 truck policy, but it was parked and I was the driver of both. I explained that I ran into the 79 and was at fault. I was not asking for them to pay for the damage to the 79, but only the 1934. After about 4 months battle, they finally paid the claim, but not enough to fix the truck. I then sold it rather than go through the hassles of repairing it. Broke my heart to see it damaged, because it was a pristine 1934 Dodge KLC pick up that was like the day it was delivered new..... and never had any restoration work done on the body, just an engine overhaul at 40 K.

Hello,

When I purchased my BX2200 with rear blade and 60inMMM this summer, the Kubota dealer just had me just them my homeowners insurance policy. Since I financed through Kubota, they needed that info. I never checked with my insurance agent but it would be no different if you had a car parked in your garage and the house burned down. The dealer explained that most homeowners policies cover the tractor because they view it as a item for the house, just like furtniture, etc. Hope this helps!

Believe that State Farm covers tractors thru the Homeowner policy. Guess I'll go read mine and make sure, however.

As I have posted in the past.

Well Kubota faxed my insurance stating the rider was required and my insurance went up ZERO ! Weird but it is on there...in black and white.

Also weird I removed my in-ground pool, yes I took a 20 x 40 pool out, 3 months ago and my policy changed ZERO. Another weird one.....

But I HATE insurance companies!!!! All they want is $$$$ but when they have to pay you, they give you "the works"!!!!!

I changed my homeowner insurance from State Farm to Farm Bureau in order to get reasonable liability insurance for my tractor and horses (non-commercial use). They have a homeowner policy rider called "Incidental Farm and Ranch" that extends homeowners liability and property damage coverage to the tractor and horses and my use of them on or off my property. As I recall it cost well less than $100 per year.

State Farm didn't even know how to spell "tractor" or "horse". They made it quite clear that I was on my own for liability and property damage off my property. The closest policy they had was a commercial landscaping policy for something like $900/yr. Ditto for the other nationally known homeowner insurance companies I checked with.
