Be sure to keep most of that cash if not all until the tractor is delivered safe and sound and on time. Also make sure you get insurance information verifying the load is covered and have it sent to you FROM the insurance company. Usually done by email or fax. Any paper work for proof of insurance handed to you by a driver can easily be void. Best of luck on the process of getting your tractor moved.

Another thing to watch for is fuel theft. Had an excavator shipped (with 30 gal fuel in a 60 gal tank), and when delivered, ran out of fuel while off-loading from the truck.

I hear that. I was lucky here, the tractor already has an empty tank. I bought a bulldozer one time that when he showed it to me had a full fuel tank. Came back to pick it up and the fuel barely covered the bottom of the tank. I think he had one of those "Puerto rican" credit cards.
