Need YM2000 ignition key

Hi All!

Anyone have any spare ignition keys for a YM2000. Probably the same as many other 1970s Yanni keys. It has one tumbler cut and a 30 stamped on it.

Hoye says they are sold out and can't get them.

Anyone got a spare?

I believe your friendly JD dealer will have the appropriate key. Just don't ask for a Yanmar 2000 key. I think (if I remember correctly) you need to ask for a key for a JD 850. It will be the correct key. My 2000 has been running a JD key for four years!

yep its an 850 JD also works in my fx28.

Just another point on the curve, my neighbor's key for his JD 750 works in my YM2220 - and vice versa. Don't know if the 750 key is the same as the 850, but ...

The only Yanni key I have is a bit bent and I am afraid of losing it and being stuck.

The local JD dealer sold me an 850 key that was supposed to work on my YM2000 and it did not. I've not tried the 750 but I will now....

There was an extensive post on this a while back. There are 2 types of keys. One cut on both sides and the other just cut on one side. There were photos of the keys in the post. My YM1700 has the double sided type. Do a search and look at the pics to see which type you have.

My local keyshop made a duplicate key (double sided) for my F18D using what he said was a stock Harley Davidson key blank.

Me too. Except, not only did I need another key, all electrics would shut down intermittantly until I switched it off/on.

FWIW, my key, for a YM2220D, and my neighbor's key, for a JD750, is identical to the key shown on the right in the attachment to this post, except I don't think his has "Yanmar" stamped on it.
