JT,

Landpride has a 90" mower FDR3590. Does your TC45 ever have problems with the 7' mower? Would you get a larger mower if you did this over again?

I have a Landpride 72" rear finishing mower and really like it's ability to mow tall grass, cut evenly and spread out the clippings so you can't see them. My neighbors have side discharge mowers and they leave alot more clippings and windrows if the grass gets tall. My neighbor thinks my mower cuts the grass as well or better as his JD 425 and I agree. I've heard good things about the Bushhog brand. I like the deck thickness, quality of the welds and paint on the LP and that they're made in Kansas.

I'm running an Bushhog RDTH 72 FRM behind my TC45D. No problem during last season & this season to date. Use it to cut about 7-8.5 acres (depending on how wet/dry it is). Also looked at Woods & Landpride units, but ended up with the BH.

I know you,ve already narrowed your choices down. But just wanted to share my thoughts with you. I purchased a 72" First Choice rear discharge finish mower. From Pieter Van Den Berg at Buy Smart, in North Carolina. This is an up and coming company that appears to put quality before quantity, as well as listening to what those of us the consumers need. Pieter is very knowledgeable on the subject of tractor implements. They are currently developing a large and thorough dealer network. And the price is considerably cheaper than the models that you are looking at, without sacrificing the quality.

The First Choice GM30-72 is almost an exact clone of the Landpride FDR2572, with a few improvements This is one extremely well built mower. I have found nothing to fault with it, and plenty to brag about. I especialy like the powder coat finish instead of paint. ( you get a choice of four colors,
N.H. Blue, J.D. Green. Kub. Orange, and IHC Red )

I am very picky and only mow in straight lines and at 90° angles; my lawn is an irregular shape which increaces turn around time. It takes me about an hour and 20 minutes to mow. I run the tractor in low range on the gearbox and high range on the electric switch (does that description make sense?)

In a "regular" shaped area I would say you could do 2 acres in an hour easily with a 7 footer. You also might be able to mow faster if the grass was light.

My tractor handles the 7' just fine. It is pretty heavy but I am too lazy to take the FEL off so I have plenty of front weight. I have never used it in tall or heavy grass; I see that as an excuse to use my brush hog. I have never had a problem with the tractor bogging down.

When I priced out mowers I was interested in the 90" but my dealer wanted almost $1K more for it. The extra 6" did not seem worth that much money. Of course if I were mowing a lot of lawn then I would have given it stronger consideration but for only 2 acres I did not see a large time savings, especially since I spend so much time turning around to keep the cutting lines straight. I even considered a 6' but figured I would rather have something wider than the bucket for getting close to fences, etc.

Do you have any Pics of your mower?

What does it take to get parts? This is a mower that I will have for a very long time and want to know that I can get the service and parts that it might require.

How long have you had yours? How has it worked out? Have you ever used any other RFM before as a comparison or is this your first?

Sorry for all of the questions but this could change the direction I am going....again....TBN is good at doing that. But it is like building a house...It is a lot easier and CHEAPER to make the changes on paper than it is after the slab is poured!

Brandon,Last year when we were looking for a Tri-Deck Finish Mower,I looked at all the brands you have listed.I found that the Rhino was the best bang for the buck.It has wider gauge wheels,heavier built decks( 3/16" ),heavier blades (3/8"x3"),good warranty on gearboxes(1 year) compared to L.P.,6 months. These are rear discharge mowers.

I've been very happy with the mower,I could'nt ask for a better quality cut,the thicker the grass the better job it does.

Good luck,choosing implements is about as tough as picking the best Tractor for your needs.
