Neighbor borrowed my MF 451

I was having a bad day yesterday so I wasn't as helpful as I fould have been. Have you looked at the online parts manual for your MF? For me I've found a lot of times I can get a good feel for how a system is supposed to be if I can study the parts illustration.

I still can't visualise how he did that to the pedal unless he snagged it on something. Does the clutch pedal still work ok, or is it stiff now?

I've had people borrow foolproof things from me and bring them back totally destroyed. Nothing is foolproof to a motivated fool.

The linkage looks fine and the seat has not been moved (I'm reupholstering it). I guess I'll adjust that linkage and see if the pedal will move back down to the normal position, knowing that I'm looking at a clutch replacement soon. I guess the tractor has to be split to replace the clutch?
I would guess that he adjusted the linkage and that it can be adjusted back down.
Common courtesy would have been to mention "I adjusted the linkage so that the clutch fully disengaged, here is what I did" upon returning it.

when and if someone asked to borrow something like that...I have an answer prepared so it's said quick and with a smile. "Oh!, I never lend anything out with an engine, would you like to borrow my shovel and rake?" shows i'm a nice guy but...come on!

Most likely a travel stop bumper has become dislodged. How much free pedal does it have?

FWIW, I NEVER loan anything for reasons such as this. I would much rather simply do favors myself for friends than loan equipment.

I come with the equiptment when somone asks to borrow it. Then there is no way they can damage it by not using it properly.

Is it possible that it got bent upwards from something striking it from below? The arch in the pedal seems extreme to me with the pedal platform pitched toward the motor more than the tractor seat. There is a little color change in to photo but that could be dirt or fading but could also be from some different paint after trying to straightening with a torch. Find someone with the same tractor to send you a picture of that pedal from the same angle.

Hopefully you have it repaired by now. Mine, showing clutch pedal normal position. Check clutch adjustment setting in operators manual.

Last year I broke my own rule and loaned the next door neighbor my weed wacker, came back ok
Any thing bigger is a solid NO, except for two people I trust, my son, and my brother
