I have a chain strainer but in the end it was easier to use those ratchet strainers and you can tighten them very easily if need be.

This is what I usually use when tightening barbed wire.

Mine is similar except that it has a third gripper on the end. Useful if you need to regrip the moving gripper without losing the stretch you already made. These fence stretchers are the best way to do it that I know.

After stretching wire, I’ve used these sleeves and a crimping tool. Or make loops like the the guy did in the video.
