Finally heard from my neighbor this weekend. He is fine with letting me cross his land to get to my logs. In fact he wanted to know the name of the saw mill guy I was using, because he has some logs that need milled as well. Like I said before, thanks for all the advice and the positive sentiments. You guys are cool.

Excellent! Nice to hear a "good" neighbor story on this site, instead of all the bad ones where everyone advises to put up more fences, gates, and sit on your front step with gun in hand. Not that there's.... anything wrong with that.

Ha! See what all that thought and good manners got you! Oh, wait.... Sounds like you'll have a good neighbor for many years.

Well let's hope it doesn’t come to that. I mentioned he doesn’t live out there right? Not saying this about him, but there are a small number of land owners out there, that belong to a unique church. And one of their core beliefs is, the end times are upon us, and a flood is coming. But luckily enough wouldn't ya know, the western portion of Jefferson county Ohio is high enough ground not to be swept away. In fact, it's going to be some nice beach front property! So if I survive the flood, then I only have to worry about surviving the members of this church that are going to be camped out all around me congratulating themselves on their forward thinking.

My sister lives up in that area.

My dad has let a neighbor get timber out across his land.
The neighbor then wanted an easement to access that part of his property that way, we said no.

LOL He'd probably like to borrow your tractors too.

So I finally got a chance to take some vacation and go home and take care of this. Really pleased with the amount and quality of wood I got. I didn't have time to do all the logs, but the saw mill guy said if I kept them tarped they might still be able to get milled for another year or so. But of the 6 cherry logs I had done, I got a BUNCH of boards. I did one maple log by accident. There was some argument between my FIL and BIL as to whether it was maple or white oak. Hopefully the maple doesn't mold while its drying.
