I was out working about 4:30 this afternoon and something got my attention out beside my MIL's house...

My neighbors bull had gotten loose and as you can see in the picture I found it.

Called him up and we managed to get a lasoo around him and tied him off to a tree so he could go get his trailer.

He apparently had knocked down a section of fence and had wandered over our way and was eating some of the winter rye grass I had out out.

time to shoot him or sell him. once they learn to walk through a fence they'll keep doing it.

Is that a rock dog house? Maybe just some rock looking siding stuff. Nice looking place there. I thought you were going to say you tied him to your tractor and drug/led him back home.

BTDT..not a dog house, it's our pump house I built. It's real stone that I put up over concrete block.... it was left over stone I had after putting it over our crawl space foundation as well as my MIL's.

Looks good. I actually thought it might be a pump house, but I thought, oh well, I'll call it a dog house and see what happens. Did you have the rock shipped in, I didn't know Florida had any rocks?

Thanks! The stone came from a brick supplier up in Dothan AL. It's some sort of Tennessee Slate.... name escapes me.... but it's real nice to work with and I think a 2500lb pallet was around $300.

Rob, it's not the first time he has knocked down a fence....and I think based on how p*****ed my neighbor was that his days are numbered.....

He calls his bull "T-Bone".....and well.....not sure how much longer T-Bone will be at his place.

We had a big bull that was a fence jumper when I was about 12 years old. My dad put a ring thru his nose and 12' of 3/8 chain on the ring. The theory was that the chain would drag on a fence when the bull put his head over it to jump/push it over. Well, the bull still got out about twice per year and my dad finally sold him.

Like Rob says, once they find out the fence is no object, they only stay in the fence because they want to. When they want out, they'll go for it.

On one of our deer leases once we were standing with the land owner, and his bull starting walking up. He had had some problems with him. The bull proceeded to walk through and tear up a 5 wire fence. A 12' gap was only about 50' away. the bull came up to us thinking he had some range cubes. The next week he had a new bull. Although I know Mike wanted to shoot him (I think he had before with birdshot), I think he sold him for burger. It's one of things if you didn't see it you wouldn't believe it.

You guys aren't encouraging me!
We got a couple of bulls calves about 6 weeks ago. After the fact we were told Jerseys, although smaller than some, can be more ornery. Great.
Hopefully when the vet gets here and "steers" them, they grow to be more docile. This wasn't my idea, but they're here now. She wanted them just for pets, I can't imagine her ever having them slaughtered, or getting rid of them in any way, knowing that would be the likely outcome.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see how they turn out.
In the meantime, I still enjoy good steak, even if she won't eat it anymore! In fact, I've said "This is really good. Is it Jersey?" She doesn't find it as amusing as I do.

Uve had it. My dad had a bull calf, decided to keep it and raise it for meat. Named it petted it got where it followed him around like a dog. Sent it off to the meat packer. Got the meat back and then refused to eat a bite of it. Finally gave the meat away.

Steph came home one evening a month or two ago and said the biggest hog in the world is behind the shop!! It was dark out and she saw it in her headlights. We went out there with the spotlight and saw two black cows. They were feeding out in the field, when about a dozen wild hogs showed up. We watched them until the hogs walked off into the trees with the two cows right behind them.

The next morning I backtracked them and saw that they walked in through our front entrance along the State Highway. They walked along our road and straight past the house. I was here, but oblivious to them being out there.

Then I followed there trackes to my neighbors land. Where they went from there is anybodies guess.

We just laugh about it, because it seems that things just show up here. A hunter during deer season shot a bull elk about 5 miles from our place. It must have escaped from a hunting preserve, but now we're wondering if there are more, and if one will show up here? hahahaha

I'am sensitive to her compassion for animals but, I'm just not one for the vegetarian lifestyle!

I think they call the Flagstone? Looks like what I've got down on my back patio. We usually go to a place near Crab Orchard as I recall, to get it. About 60/90 minutes from my house.
