I would not do that. Stripping bark will damage the tree, unlike sawing the limb at the bole. If your neighbor gets nasty about this, he could sue you for damages.

Anyone can sue anyone for anything, any time. 'Merica!

But winning is the challenge, or more specifically, winning an award large enough to have made it worth your while.

Cleanup the wood that's on your side of the fence. That's all you are entitled to do. Why would your insurance company care, or even need to know?

Never assume.
I thought if a neighbor's tree fell over onto my property the neighbor was responsible which is why I called my insurance company. Strange because if it fell on a shed, car, etc. on my property it's my responsibility. I'm thinking years ago it wasn't that way.
It all turned out fine...except so far I've burned up two chainsaws cutting it up!!! It's like cutting steel pipe. Chains were sharp.

I cut a lot of hickory. Always figure on sharpening or swapping the chain every 2nd tank of fuel, if you keep the chain clean and out of the dirt.

Hit the dirt, and chances are you found at least one rock, so that's an immediate chains swap. Set them aside for grinding in a raining evening.
