I use opera and have no problems here.
IE is a joke and netscape lost its edge a while back.

Tawoo,

When I first started out, I was using Netscape. After a couple of years, (job change) the standard was IE. I didn't care too much for IE after using Netscape due to several factors. One, as others mentioned was the monopoly of Microsoft. Also, something new to learn to do the same task. Now, the major pharmaceutical compnay I am at uses Netscape 4.8. I was having some issues with TBN on ver 4.72, but 4.8 seems to have addressed them. Still, there are times during the day where Netscape has a hissy-fit and exits.

I spent 30 years in the computer industry and I have designed and tested a bunch of software. I have always preferred Netscape, but once AOL bought them they went down the tubes. Netscape is now a slow and buggy shell of it's former self. The latest version is just more of the same. The news reader is a slug.... much slower than V6.

Sad to say, I am about to force myself to use IE. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I'm pretty much in agreement with what can be read at this <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.anybrowser.org/campaign/>link</A>.

Did anyone hear about the verdict for the Sun Java vs. MS Virtual Machine case? Basically, don't waste your time on MS's site looking for VM. Sun's Java will be included in subsequent releases of windoze.

<font color=blue>I started with Netscape years ago, but haven't had it loaded for a long, long time. I've used Opera for several years now and really like it. It is far faster than either IE or Netscape, and unlike IE, the back button is usually instantaneous.</font color=blue>

I second the vote for Opera. It's all I use these days. You can have it lie and say it's Exploder or Netscape for those old-fashioned sites that require this. The only site I have any problem with Opera these days is this one, oddly enough. And it's a minor problem. You hit "Continue" to post a message, and it comes back with a message about all fields not being filled in. Then you just use the "back" button, and try again. It rarely takes more than two tries to get it to take. Dunno why it does this, but the benefits of Opera outweigh this small inconvenience, in my mind. The new M2 mail and news client built in seems pretty cool, too.. although this is a beta and not completely debugged yet.

This baby is fast! They've really done some serious work on the core of it, and it shows.

That's a good site, Paul. Thanks for pointing it out.

You're very welcome, Harv.

I have trouble with Netscape all the time and almost never have trouble with IE, so I use IE. The only time I use Netscape is when I'm testing something at work.

For my first experience on the Internet, my ISP recommended, and provided, Netscape, so it was what I learned on. I looked at IE and didn't like it because I was accustomed to Netscape, but then after a couple of "upgrades" to later versions of Netscape, I started having so much trouble with it that I dumped it and have used nothing but IE now for quite some time.

Bird, you sound like my mother. She was in her eighties when she first encountered a computer of any kind. I made the mistake of having her learn Outlook Express, and now, despite my best efforts, she won't abandon it and learn something new! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
