Ahh, you got the super glue

My wifes a nurse and mother of two accident prone boys. Back when we were dating I sliced the living snot out of my finger doing something stupid.

I went inside and mentioned to my wife I thought I needed stitches. She said "No you don't!! I got just the thing to take care of it in the cupboard"

I'm thinking butterfly stitches and a "Lightning McQueen" bandaid.

I should have gotten concerned when she wouldn't let me see what she removed from the cupboard, locked my arm under her shoulder, her back towards me and my hand out of view.

Well..... all of a sudden it felt like my hand was doused in kerosene and lit on fire. I'm thrashing her around the kitchen trying to get my hand back from her, her feet coming off the ground on several occasions.

After the pain calmed down i asked what she used??? She replied that she used super glue.

I then told her, I would have been fine if she would have told me what she was doing. That sudden burn and not knowing what the F..... she was doing was what got me
The last tire manufacturing plant I worked at had a vending machine that would dispense one small bottle of YELLOW tube Locktite to each employee in my department each month. That stuff is wonderful and does not sting. A tire builder handling steed belt wire would get a dozen small pricks in their finger each night. Their finger tips always looked rough. But that stuff is EXPENSIVE if you can find it.

Had a vein inside my nose chemically cauterized due to it bleeding all the time.
About like snorting a bumblebee. But hey it fixed it.
Last thing I remember the Dr saying was hold still.

My 96-year old mother has the beginnings of macular degeneration. So on the advice of a retinaologist and other eye specialists my sisters and I take the AREDS 2 vitamin daily. This is supposed to cut our chances of developing the disease in half.

The cost alone sends up a red flag for me. I’d bet ophthalmologist’s all have stock in the manufacturer.

I’m not very trusting of pills though. I started taking a multivitamin, we’ll see how that goes haha I take a probiotic and feel like it has been very helpful.

I will have you know that my "fancy knives" cost the breathtaking sum of $4.99 each plus shipping. But they are good, we both reach for them when we need a knife.

My wife had two surgeries where they cut something off her retina. She had two stitches each in four places on her eye. Both times she looked like she had been in a fight with a black eye. We could walk thru Walmart and men would stop and stare at me with their fists doubled up.

96 years old and the problem is just starting to develop? Most of us wouldn't be worried about it at that age, we'll be pushing up geraniums long before then. There are other things to be aware of to help prevent it. The way I understand, a decent pair of sunglasses if you spend a lot of time outside is very beneficial.

I have a good pair of sunglasses in the Taco Wagon. When my "squint muscles" start hurting - it's time to put on the sunglasses. I've tried every brand/color/type of sunglasses. They all have a negative effect on my vision. Probably due to the fact that I'm blind in my right eye.

I used super glue on a cut and didn't feel any discomfort. Mind you it was just a small one on a finger, and i had read about using super glue, so tried it out. The cut wasn't very deep, but it was on the part you always use, so it would start up bleeding again and it was starting to look like i'd butchered something in the shop. It worked pretty well, left kinda like a callous on the finger tip.

Macular Degeneration runs in part of my family and has caused family members to go blind. They went blind before the shot was available but I have one family member getting the shot in the eye. I take AREDs, it is a good source of some minerals and vitamins, to lower my chances of going blind. The cost of AREDs is NOTHING if it prevents me going blind or pushes out the time I do go blind. Heck, if AREDs prevents me from having to have a shot in the eyes, I will gladly pay. I have no idea if I will get Macular Degeneration but the cost of AREDs is a who cares in comparison to going blind and I need the minerals and vitamins in the supplement any way.

One can simply look at the minerals and vitamins in AREDs and take similar supplements....

A friend of ours was taking a clone of AREDs but it was from the UK. There might be a US supplement with the same vitamins and minerals.

I do wear sun glasses too. Hopefully they help.

A Christmas or two ago, I bought new steak knives. They are SHARP! I very seldom cut myself, but my finger lightly touched one of the knife edges, and I was bleeding.:LOL:

I put find ground pepper on the cut along with a bandaide. The pepper stops bleeding. Not sure it would have stopped what the OP had though. I heard about using pepper decades ago on the People's Pharmacy.

One evening my wife cut her thumb real bad. Basically scalped the skin off her thumb. She did not want to go to the ER so we put the skin back in place and covered the cut with pepper and a bandage. The wound was bleeding quite badly but the pepper stopped it. She went to the doctor the next day and the doc kinda freaked out about the "dirt" in the wound, but wife explained what it was, they just flushed it out a bit and that was that. No stitches that I remember.

Never heard of the OP's chemical anti bleed sticks but good to know.

Last year I had a two month bout of aggravated autoimmune disorder. At one point I was taking one hydrocodone or hydromorophine tablet every hour - just to make the pain tolerable. I had pain in my neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, back & knees. Only one area at a time. But with so many areas - there was constant pain.

I VERY DEFINITELY remember the day I could quit all the narcotics and use only aspirin to cut the pain. I knew the end of pain was in sight.

Two weeks of constant narcotics. And I never became "hooked" on them.

Two doctors and one specialist examined me multiple times.

It was determined that a particularly difficult tooth extraction was what set off the autoimmune reaction.

You talk about an insult to the body proper - I never want to go thru something like that again.

Number of years ago, I had some cancer taken off my nose (Moh's process). To cut it out, they have to numb the nose.

Doc pulls out her needles and before she sticks in my nose (do you realize how sensitive your nose is to being stuck with a needle??)

(we had been bantering a bit) So, as she prepared to stick the tip of my nose with a needle, I asked "Say Doc.... is this going to hurt me more than it hurts you??"

Her only (wry) comment was "Fraid so"

It was one of the most intense pains I've ever had.....until the numbing took hold, then she stabbed it several more times with much longer acting numbing agent.

She cut it out, everything checked clean so I thought I was done.....but Noooooooooooooooooooooooo, NOW they have to fix it.

I went back in, she sliced my nose and "pulled" the slab of skin down to cover the hole she'd made "stealing" some of the extra skin from the brow.

Today, you can't tell anything was done unless you are VERY observant or I tell you.

I was in chair with literally, front row view as they laid the flap of the nose to the side when she was doing something. They took photos, I asked if I could see one and "NO" was an immediate answer. I later found out they used to do that and found some people absolutely went beserk when they saw the opening of their nose laying on their face.
