I'm going to start cutting my yard with my new RFM. I've had a 1428v for 3 years and have never had the need to take off the FEL. I'd like to take it off to reduce the weight on the yard and to give me a bit more maneuverability. The manual makes it look easy - but it also made changing the engine oil filter look easy too and t was a bear.

Any gotcha's that I should be aware of when removing or re-attaching? Is this a quick operation or should I just leave the darn thing attached?

I have a MF 1445 with a 1040 loader and it comes off pretty easy. I have taken it off several times, usually when I service the tractor to be able to see things better and to put my snow blower on. I am not sure if yours comes off the same way mine does, but mine will just "roll off" with the help of hydraulics, and the same when putting back on. I put a piece of plywood on the ground so when the noise hits its not buried in the dirt. The only thing I am carefully of when taking of and reinstalling is to watch to make sure I am centered, looks like if your not carefully you could hit the hood if you get off center too much. Hope this helps.

I know I am comparing apples to oranges here but the loader on the MF2300 is supper easy... raise the bucket, set the legs, lower bucket until relief for the 2 pins, pull the pins and continue rolling bucket until the loader walks out of its mount cradle, unhook hydro connects and back away 3 mins tops.. hope it helps :)

thanks for the replies. I cut today with the loader attached but I really got to take it off. I whapped a few trees and feared hitting something worse. I didnt have the time to try taking it off today - I'll give it a shot this week.
