Re: Never thought I\'d be asking this, are the BX\'s...

I agree the small tires really looked weird compared to the Grand L series R4s!
I am on a steep hill and while I do not want to leave any tire tracks (the boss has a problem with those...) I had to convert to bar tires in order not to lose tracton. Huge difference in a hill.
On the BX 1850 I will probably go to a combinatioon of bar tires on the rear and turf on the front. I do not know why but it worked very well on the old JD 318 so I am going to try it on the new Kubota.
For now I have bar tires all the way around.

They are tiny. I just threw one in the gargage heap from my old machine and was thinking the exact same thing. However....they are awesome machines for their size, very powerful lb-for-lb. It'll do more work than you would imagine.....

I was thinking that you might want to consider the 30 series, but they're prob too big and the they are $$.

Not sure about a Harley Rake on the BX Rat.....I looked into one a few years ago and it totally pushed (exceeded) the limits. Maybe they make smaller ones, say something around 5' wide....that would be cool.

Re: Never thought I\'d be asking this, are the BX\'s...

They do make a smaller one and fairly light too, its the T-5. It still has the carbide studded roller unlike my Pro 8, but then my L3830 can't handle the Pro 8 unless the loader is on, after that its a pretty good combination. Plenty of power but I'll tell you, with almost 2000lbs hanging off the back, in low gear, the rear wheels very rarely loose traction. I hauled it from my old place on a car trailer. Between the tractor, filled tires and the rake, the trailer was loaded. I only went 6 miles but those trailer tires were quite warm.

I think Woods has a new small rake in the "Estate" series...
