Has anyone been using the new 1526 shuttle Mahindra with a 5 foot finish mower, does it have plenty of power. I am considering one of these tractors and was also wondering how they (previous models 2816, 3016) hold up after 1000 hrs. This is the first thing I've posted, hopefully it's okay to have it here.

A frequent poster on the Mahindra Forums has a 3016 and seems to be happy with his. The 1526 has more than enough power to pull a 5' rfm, for that matter I think a 6' would be a better pairing for it. I believe oldpilgrim would be the guy to ask if he sees this post. Donnie

Thank you for your response Donnie, it looks like you have a Mahindra with a similar engine have you been happy with it? It seems that most of the reviews I have been able to find on the Mahindra tractors are lower hour machines. I am considering selling my Kubota L3710 and downsizing somewhat as I thought the 1526 would be fine for the mowing that I do and the lighter tractor would be easier on the yard. My Kubota has been trouble free (500 hrs) and is in showroom condition so I would like to replace it with a tractor that I can expect to get the same trouble free service from. Any input you might have or anyone else would be greatly appreciated. Glenn

Glenn from what I see the engines look to be the same in the Max 24, 26xl, and 1526. Just a different tune. I like the fact that Mahindra uses no dpf and the mCRD seems much less complicated and costly. Sorry I don't have many hours to give you a long range review. However the Mitsubishi Diesel engine is top notch. I never once have had any cold start issues over the winter with it. Glow plug and cranks right up. The dealer did put a block heater in to sweeten the deal some so I'm glad it's there as it can get cold in NH. As for the mower I know my Max 24 can pull a 5' rfm no problem, so it shouldn't be any problem for a 1526. I went with the 60" mmm they offer for the Max, so I'd be safe to say that the rfm would be no prob that size for the 1526. This little tractor is a Real worker. I moved the snow we got here around no problems with the loader only, planning to get a loader mounted plow before next winter. We have horses and moving manure is a must and this little tractor gets dirty at times lol. I'm currently waiting for a BoxBlade to come in for it to get to grading and maintaining our driveways. Now that we have it I don't know how we went without it so long. My back loves me for it. Anyway for me I decided what I needed a tractor to be able to do and the Max 24 fit just fine. Weight wise it's great and doesn't shred my yards. If you can't tell I Love that little tractor, so the 1526 would just be more to like. Donnie

The models 26HP and under aren't required to have the new Tier 4 final modifications, and it's the same for all manufacturers -- you won't find a DPF on any other brands 26HP and under either. When you go to the higher horsepower Mahindras, they all have Tier 4 final plumbing added onto the engine like every other brand. The don't have a DPF, but they do have a DOC (catalyst) and it's basically marketing spinning to say which one is better than the other. I think Mahindra marketing must be pretty good given the number of people who think they magically escaped the Tier 4 rules. Not the case at all.

Hi s219, you have a lot of great responses and post a lot and seem to know quite a bit. Correct the 26 hp engines and under do not require dpf. However I never implied to be fooled or imply that Mahindra as fooling its customers into thinking they escaped tier4 emissions. I just preferred mCRD to a dpf that's all.

Sorry, didn't mean to point at you specifically, but there have been many posts over the last year or so by people who seem to think Mahindra was able to satisfy Tier 4 final without doing anything, but really all that happened is that they did it by using a DOC instead of DPF. To me they are both undesirable extra plumbing to have on the engine. I do give Mahindra credit for using common rail direct injection, which is more modern than what most tractor manufacturers are doing.

Donnie that's great that your so pleased with the Max 24. What trans did you get and how many hours are on your Tractor? Did you have any issues under warranty? The dealers around here seem to be having a hard time getting the 1526 shuttle tractors so I have not been able to go drive one. My closest dealer is 75 miles so that is another reason I am trying to find out how reliable and trouble free they are. Glenn

The Max 24 is HST, and mine only has 10 hours on it. However, I believe the Max line itself has been out since 2012 and has plenty of happy customers. I like the fact that the 1526 has nearly the same engine and should be just as reliable. As far as warranty issues this platform is solid, I looked and looked here and elsewhere and couldn't find anything bad so I decided on Mahindra. It sometimes depends on the operator as you already know, some people beat these things to death then throw their hands up and blame the manufacturer. I believe the 1526 where it's so close to the Max line will give you plenty of good reliable service. I think it's worth the ride, ask if you can speak to any customers that they have already sold one too if possible and hear their testmonial on them. My dealer offered to let me talk to clients he's sold to and ask them questions, maybe where you live 75 miles away from the dealer that might not be a idea.

Thanks Donnie for your information. I believe the 1526 will be what I go with, I also called a fellow at Daves Tractors in Calif. who I saw posted on some of these forums and spoke with him about the tractor. He really sounds like a good dealer, very knowledgeable about the products and willing to spend a few minutes answering some questions. If everything looks and feels good when I drive one that is what I will get. Thanks Glenn
