Hows the Massey been treating you? You reach 500 hours yet?

Excellent thanks! I should hit 500 hrs this weekend. She's still been perfect, knock on wood. How's the LS treating you?

I figured I'd subscribe to this thread to keep on your Massey. I've been looking at cab tractors lately and the specs of the Massey look to be the best for what I do. Better loader lift height to the pin and a nice layout for rear remote controls. I'm not too concerned about the lower breakout you mentioned since I use my CTL for most of that type of dirt work.

I noticed from photos on your website that Massey uses the same wimpy front tires that everyone else does. Too much squat. I switched to 10 ply skidsteer tires and noticed a HUGE improvement. I saw that you installed rear wheel weights. Have you found any for the front?

So, now that you've been running the tractor for some time, have any issues popped up?

I agree on the tires, when these fronts need replacing, I will put stronger tires on there.

the wheel weights have been a great addition. never looked for front weights as my work and uses wouldn't require it.

The Tractor has been great. The first "problem" just developed last week... One of the steel hydraulic lines developed a small leak at the fitting end. Checked it for tightness and it was tight. So, either the factory installed thread compound wore out, or the steel line is developing a small crack at the end. Either way, it's still under warranty so I'll just bring it to the dealer and have him do it, just in case the line needs replacing.

Even though it's not much of an actual "problem" with the tractor, I guess I can no longer technically say she is flawless.

For a compact tractor, the loader is excellent. I can see a CTL in my future (couple years) but for now, super happy I bought the Massey.

...

Glad you like the site! I get lots of good feedback on it, but it's always good to hear, so thanks!

I had a steel line start leaking at the fitting on my CTL. Turns out that it was a loose feral. It sounds like the MF has been pretty good for you. The MF line is a new addition to our new Holt CAT dealership. I'll have to get by and check out what they have. I did find a used (94 hours) 1648 with cab for sale for $28k and change. I may check that out as well. The TYM dealer is offering some pretty good deals, but the joystick / remote controls look to be laid out differently than yours. And (of course) it's Tier 4. The controls setup yours has is what got me looking at the brand to begin with.

On the subject of CTL's...they're expensive to run, but they sure get things done. About the only things I like about my CASE are the knee-numbing a/c and fuel-sipping 90hp engine, but man can it knock down 100 yards of fill dirt in a hurry!

$28k is a great price, that's the lowest I'd let mine go for and mine has more hours.

Regarding the CTL... I do a lot of grading work, mostly for residential new construction. As much as I'd like one of those to move material more quickly, I would have a hard time giving up my front bucket and rear box, because I use them in conjunction with each other and am very efficient and precise with this setup.

where I would love the CTL would be for grading larger properties, in which case I would bring a six-way dozer blade with me along with my partner using a front loader to move the dirt around. it's too bad that these toys are so expensive, really makes me use patience and restraint more than I would prefer!

Yeah, I'm a tractor guy a heart. For gravel and finish work, nothing beats having weapons at each end of the machine.

I found myself abusing the tractor's loader more than I like so I bit the bullet and bought a CTL. For one day jobs I'll make the choice on which machine to take based on the task at hand. On jobs that take more than one day, I'll take the CTL out to do the rough work, then take it home and use my tractor to put the final shine on it.

That said...I've put more money in one repair on my CTL than I've spent on my tractor in the last 3000 hrs. That's a tough pill to swallow at times!

I ordered the 1736HL this morning. I've been following this thread with great interest. Would you mind sending me a link to your site?

Thanks,
Mike
