The idea of anew tractor owner/user should be more than merely a list of do's and don'ts - or it ends up being that parent and child instructions of my youth. In other words, "30 or 40 don'ts" in no order or organization. What happens? invariably you either remember the first 2 or the last 2 :)

I'd like to see a bit more organization or logic to the many fine points already made.

Here's a start to making it more reasonable to use the ideas better.

Lets say the delivery person comes to you - the new owner's location with your shiny new SCUT.

1. Have a list of questions - needs for that delivery person to demonstrate for you. Here's a couple:

a. When sitting on the tractor - which levers do you use 1st and which do you only use with other implements ?

b. What order do you move or engage those levers so as not to grind gears or engage implements accidentally ?

c. Show me how to operate just the tractor without anything else attached - and how to engage 4wd, cruise control, or lock the joystick valve control and locking the brake.

2. Show me how to take the front end loader off and reattach it - including detaching and attaching quick coupler hydro lines.

3. If you have other implements being delivered - have the delivery person show how to engage each of them and how to detach or attach each of them.

4. Lets say the delivery person is not the designated training person. Then have the training person stop over. My point is - memorizing safety procedures and methods of operation is far harder if you don't 1st see someone doing it correctly. Manuals are great things - but many new users want to see their new unit run a little before opening up the manuals.

5. It doesn't matter if you are male or female - 25 or 75 - short or tall - you can successfully learn to use and enjoy a SCUT tractor and its implements. But its not like learning to ride a bicycle - more like learning to drive a car - because there are more things to consider and use.
