I had hydraulic fluid shooting straight up to the ceiling of the garage....I thought at first it was a defective plug or maybe a bad fitting :confused2: .. I wiped it with a cloth and I could see the hairline crack in the casting spread open and fluid would gush straight up from that area...mostly only when I pulled back or pushed forward on the spool lever....

I always thought these valves were checked for flaws in the casting by placing them under working pressure before they left the factory...tag says it's made in Italy....oh' well it's back to Princess Auto for a replacement tomorrow morning.....

it sure made a mess...I noticed the cylinders did move under pressure...well at least for awhile till I lost it...the rear hydraulics were working okay as well....I had to stick a long Allen key into the pinhole of the leverless shaft to get it to work though..... take care .....Ampa <>

Can you tell us how the valve was hooked up?

Please show pic of the valve and the crack!

Is the crack close to the tank port?

At the momemt the darn thing is covered in hydraulic oil....the crack is on the top side in the area of the top "T" return...I decieded not to use this output installed a plug and used the larger side port and as first suggested bought and installed a power beyound adapter...

the hairline crack is really not too noticeable but it is there...it runs about an inch or so...enough to cause a guisser effect somewhat like ol' Faithful... I know what you guys are gettin' at that maybe it was my fault like improper connection.....

or maybe an air lock in the system cause I didn't purge it....no one mentioned doin'...... I believe this valve casting wasn't cast proper....( had a weak point).... valve seems to be made of some kind of cast aluminium...

I believe it wasn't thick enough in that area... or quite possible the system did have too air in the line on startup....I doubt that the small little pump would have too much pressure to cause this.... I'm on my way back to the store and get it replaced with another new one.....I'm now thinkin' why didn't a fitting or hose blow if I have it all connected wrong.....thanks guys....Ampa <>

Hi Ampa,

If you put the power beyond adapter in, then you have to run the T line back to the Tank (reservoir). If you leave the power beyond adapter out, then you don't have to use the T port, you can run the side port on the valve back to the tank.

The power beyond adapter isolates the side port and the T port from each other so both have to be plumbed in.

I was told if I had another valve in the system for which there was and still is....that bein' internal for the 3 pt hitch rear lift... like I've mentioned many times in the past posts.....I dont intend to use it no more.... but if I needed it for some reason connecting a power beyond adapter from the larger thread size side port and then installing a 1/4" plug in the top side port would be the way I had to go....

now I used the 1/4" top (IN) port for the "P" line from the pump...I'll wait for you guys to get back to me before I connect up this new valve I just picked up....the casting on this looks more like cast iron than aluminium and beside this it cost $20.00 more than the bad valve....

anyhow guys get back to me....so I'll know where to go from here....I may have to return the power beyond adapter and use both the topside "T" connection and the "P" (IN) ports...another thing I didn't mention is I kept the hose stock @1/4" 2 wire type for connecting to the spliced onboard connection into the rear axle of the original....

I really seen no sense at all of running two larger hoses from the pump into the "T' side port since the compression fittings/adapters sold to me from the hydraulic supply were smaller than 1/4"....I showed them photo's of my tractor and what I needed to do....and didn't advise me of any unforeseen problems..anyhow guys....

I'll stall here for awhile.... as I may need to change things around here....and I hope not...... because money wise I'm all tapped out of cash...I got to get this thing finished.... like yesterday :D....thanks guys for all your help plus time and interest.....take care Ampa <> :confused2:

You can not plug the tank port. The cyl fluid has to get back to the tank. You dead headed the flow of fluid, and the weakest part burst. The tank port has a pressure rating on it, and should not be exceeded.

In previous post, I thought we had guided you in the right direction.

Sorry about your troubles. They may not exchange that valve. I am pretty sure they will say operator error.

Like stated, you CANNOT have the T or OUT port plugged if you use the PB sleeve in your valve.
