JD 770 & JD LT160
I just got my JD L111 last week. I know it's the cheapest kind of JD but my yard is only 1/2 acre. Me & the wife have used it and both of us can't belive how much vibration there is in the steering wheel and foot pedals, motor running no blades turning you can see it vibrate even when not moving. I cut my lawn for about 1.5hrs and my hands felt numb for 1/2hr and tingling for about 4hrs after I stopped. The wife can't keep her foot on the pedals because of the vibration. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I called the dealer and he said he would send out service but didn't know what to do about it. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif My JD770 runs allot smoother than this thing. Is this the way the cheap JD's run or is this one an exception to the rule. If this the rule of the cheap ones I will have to move up to an LT model. Thanks

I speak with no experience of that particular machine, but i do know that no tractor, lawn tractor, should have the amt of vibration you describe.

Try to upgrade to a V-twin for smoother operation. Look at the LT180.

Have a L111. No vibration as you describe. The Vtwin runs smooth. Check your plugs to insure both clyndiners are firing. I would have your dealer run a compression check and also check your engine mounts.

I will head out to the barn and check all you suggested. I was to /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif about this to think about the easy stuff to check. I have a compression tester so I won't have to wait for the dealer. Thats why a great forum like this can get your feet back on the ground hope I can return the favor. I did look under and ckeck the belts and pullys all look in place and ok.

I think Kyle was talking about if I change to an LT model. Just got back in from barn and yes both firing, compression is 125# rt. 130# lf. checked 2 times and no motor mounts, engine bolted directly to frame and all bolts tight. Started it up to make sure me not hallucinating, nope vibration is there. Will be calling dealer. I can't think of anything more to check or maybe me not thinking at all /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Thanks if you guys can think of anything more please post.

On saturday traded the L111 in for a LT160. The dealer gave me a full refund on the L111 applied it to the LT160 and was out the door in 1/2 hour. No problems. LT160 runs good handles the hills better and a lot less vibration. Thanks for all your replys. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
