New 2008 lt1042`s

I have read plenty of negative comments on the 2006 1042`s but would like to hear if those problems were fixed for 2008. Just want to use it to pull small attachments like a sweeper, fertilizer and small roller. I use other machines to mow.

I have the '06 model. It has 60 hours on it. Soon as the warranty expired the main pulley shaft-bolt snapped for no reason. Got that fixed and now, last fall at the end of season, the PTO won't engage the blades. Not sure exactly what the issue is but I priced a new PTO for 350. The 1042 is becoming a real pain in the $@!$. I will never buy another CC. Quality Control went out with door years ago.

Yep, 3 years/120 hours for most of the tractor. I believe the frame and something else is 5 years. Though it may have been 2 years when Lum bought his.

The 1042 is a good machine for the price, just be sure to get it from a dealer. Dealers inspect and prep their machines before sale while the BBS's don't. Dealers also tend to let you know about TSB's.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I know of many people who have purchased these 1000 series from our local dealer and have had no problems. The few problems they had the dealer fixed right up, some even out of warranty. It really makes all the difference buying from the dealer.

Also the dealers are going to tell you that they are designed for small manucured lawns Not Acres and Acres. Buy the Right machine for the job and it will give you a long life.
