My new 260(4 cord cut) is bogging down when in wood and slow to rev up. Air filer is clean, fuel is fresh. My question: do new saws come detuned??

New saws come set lean due to EPA regs and usually the dealer will set them up fairly well within the limits of the tabs. I would start by replacing the plug if this is a new condition after several tankfuls.

Those 260s are legendary saws and dependable as gravity so I don't think you have anything more than a carb adjustment issue. If it is a new saw and under warranty I would take it to the dealer. Usually when a saw bogs down and won't accelerate either unloaded or not it is the L (low) speed carb screw needs richened up a tad. Turn the screw counter clockwise 1/4 of a turn and see what happens. Good luck with your saw

Dave,
Did you try to adjust your carb yet? What happened?

No, I had started night shift the day you suggested I should, it's gonna be a long run but will let you know when I get a chance to adjust
