Just got my new 3039 last week and am overall well pleased. There's a long story to how I ended up with it and I'll update with pics later, but now I have a question. Its an Ehydro with the load match and speed match. The other day I had it in high and was going down a paved road at full throttle when the front tires locked up. Scared the crap out of me. I tried to move it off the road and it would not move. I switched it to low gear and backed up and it freed up and I was able to proceed down the road. A few hours later on the way back it did the same thing. I got to thinking and turned off the speed match and cruise control and did a quick test and it did not do it. I will test it more this weekend. The question is could one of the controls cause this or should it be on the way back to the dealer. Thanks! MGuns

Were you in 4WD?
If so, 4WD is not supposed to be used on pavement and could cause the front to lock up.
In 4WD the fronts and rears actually run at slightly different speeds.
Not sure what load match or speed match function is or how it works.

Speed match and load match should have nothing to do with the front axle locking up. Load match will slow down the tractor to prevent stalling or lugging the engine. Speed match is just like cruise control on you car. It holds the speed or allows you to set a max travel speed regardless of how far you push the pedal. The pedals are just electronic inputs to the drive train and load match / speed match will alter how they work. If only the front axle is locking up, that would indicate you have a hardware issue in the axle / driveline that is causing it to bind up. By baking up you are freeing up whatever is jammed. As George stated, if you are running in 4WD on bare pavement, you may have done some damage. If it continue to do it, take it back to the dealer ASAP and have it checked out while still under warranty.

Was there a resolution to this?

I'm finally pissed off enough to reply. This will be a long post so please excuse me while I vent. I went to Bridgeport equipment in Huntington, WV to look at getting a backhoe for my 2720. After some thought I traded the 2720 for a 3033r with a 375a backhoe and a h165 loader. I felt like they gave me a pretty good deal so I was happy. It took about 2-3 weeks to get the backhoe in so I used the new tractor while I waited. I was impressed with the difference in the two tractors even though they were about the same hp. They came and got the 3033r to install the backhoe. The next day the service manager called and told me the rear housing was cracked and wanted me to come and take a look. It was cracked in several place and needed to be totally taken apart to be fixed. I went to the salesman and told him I didn't want the tractor period. I wasn't going to make payments on a new tractor that had such a catastrophic failure knowing the chances of them getting it back to original condition was not good in my opinion. I went into the lot to cool off and seen a 3039r so I went back in and said I wanted to trade for the 3039r. There was about a 10day process t get the 3039r and the backhoe home. The service manager said JD couldn't understand why I just wouldn't let them fix it. I had not made a payment yet and the thing broke and he doesn't understand. In the time I waited for the 3039r I called JD and told them what happened and said they should do something for me as I am without a tractor during the busy time of the year. She said I may or may not hear back from JD. I said a brand new $35000 machine breaks and I may not hear for the company that built it. She said that's the policy and I said my policy is to not spend money with a company that didn't support their customers. I was off work for election day so I wanted to catch up on work around the house so I fired up the 3039 and headed down the drive way and the front end locked up again but there was no fixing it now. the only way it would roll in two wheel drive was backwards. I called Bridgeport and they said they would be out to pick it up in a couple of days and I said I'm bringing it to you now. They called me a few days later and said that the whole font end was trash and that it was caused by the front bearings being bad, one of em even broke. It had 12 hours on it the first time it locked up and I know I did not have it 4wd. Those bearings where not installed from the factory correctly just like the housing was over tourqued from the factory. I had two 2 series and never had a problem two 3 series with catastrophic failures in less than a year. I have been without a tractor for over a month in the last 12 months and still they want their payments. I still haven't heard from JD and I'm done with them. I want my money back so I can pay less for a different colored tractor that will give me better service. JD is letting these big companies buy out the small store and they are filling the lots with tractors and it seems they are just worried about moving units. That's ok as long as they man the stores without enough people to service their customers. I am not happy with JD or Bridgeport. You guys think I should talk to a lawyer?

I think if you say the "lawyer" word to the dealer your situation may get worse. Most companies when threatened with suit will stop communicating with you and let their legal team handle it.

I think resolution will be dependent on your dealer's help. Hopefully they will step up.

Sorry for your problems. I don't blame you for feeling as you do.

That's a terrible story, really sorry to hear you have been having so much problems with JD. That would be a tough situation. Hopefully JD stands by there product, admits there in the wrong and refunds your money. As far as the legal side of things go what they should do and what I have always heard a company do is ship you out a replacement tractor till yours is fixed. Gleaner and CASE are two I have personally heard from two diff farmers that broke down, the dealership sent a semi out the next day with a new loaner combine to use while they fixed the broken one so the farmers didn't have down time and they pulled the old one from the field with a tractor. At the very least they should have given you one to use.

Keep us posted and the best of luck to you.

That being said, I think JD sticks the dealers with the financing, I went to a local JD dealer and talked about a used tractor they had, was over priced in my mind and I tried to negotiate, from what I got out of the dealership is JD only finances "in house", they don't sign you up and the loan goes to JD, it stays with that dealer, so if that dealer is the same, the hesitation to not be helpful is understandable when there money is on the line, not JD's.

Not saying it's right and only talked to the one dealer but that's how they did it. But that was a used one year old tractor that they offered financing for so idk

Don't think Deere will loan a user tractor, but it is up to the dealer to do, if it happens.
Dealer I worked for would see to it that a replacement was available, but that dealer couldn't keep his head above "water" and a multi-shop dealer took over. No more loaners.

And believe Deere has a financial corporation that handles "loans", not Deere directly or the dealership.

Could be wrong about that.

Deere has their own & another loan business, what i have been told.

Hey guys I was a little pissed when I wrote the post yesterday because it made three weeks that they have had my tractor this time. I want to clarify a couple things: The guys at Huntington are doing ok the problem is since Bridgeport bought them out their customer service has declined dramatically. Its the same guys I bought my first two tractors from that gave me great service. The only thing that's changed is the name on the sign. I have several friends that have experienced the same since Bridgeport took over. Now that I've calmed down a little, I'm going to give them a chance to make it right before thinking about a lawyer. Sorry for the vent but I'm pissed at JD.
