Hello everyone. I have good news. My new 4120 has arrived. This is the second 4120 I have owned. The first in 2004 and now this one. If I knew then what I have learned over the past few years I would have never sold my first 4120!!!

I traded in my 3320 tractor/300cx loader/448 backhoe and the 350 sickle mower. I am sure I will miss the 448 but I have a Case 580C sitting in the barn down the road if I need it.

Enjoy the pics

John

Here is a future farmer. Her name is McKinley. I hope to see her take over the 2,000 acre family farm sometime in the future. She will enjoy farming this fall I am sure.

I guess you found out that the line between a tractor and a toy lies somewhere between a 3000 and 4000 series. I do think however that the 3000 series is a nice machine for folks with tight places to get into, or who need to trailer and dont own a heavy duty truck/trailer.

Congratulations John!!! That looks like a tractor fit for a farm!
McKinley sure is growing fast, won't be to much longer and we'll be seeing pics of her wheeling the 4120 around on her own. Hope the new unit serves you well! Craig

Nice tractor. Why did you sell the first 4120?

2000 acres - what do you produce on it?

I sold the first one due to financial problems because my wife had a servere problem with a pregnancy back in 2005. We have good health inurance but they did not cover most of the operations and other costs for medical services that had to be completed. The twin babies did not survive the surgeries. All is ok now as you can see December 27, 2006 my wife gave birth to McKinley. We would have liked to have had the original twins but it did not work out. If I could have went through this without selling my 4120 I would have. I also sold my 2520 that was used for mowing the grass around home at this same time. The 4x20 series is a great tractor.

We raise corn and soybeans here in central Illinois. Many years ago we had livestock and raised some wheat and hay for the cattle but now it is strictly a grain farm. My grandfather started out on his own farming by himself in 1949 buying a few hundred acres here and there. I intend to keep the farm going through my lifetime and hope that McKinley and my cousin's kids will do the same. Such a shame to see family farms broken up these days just because the kids do not want anything to do with the farming operations.

John (KB9UDE), sorry to hear about your twins, and congrats on marching forward. I also hope that your family keeps their farm, and we get more people going after owning and keeping farms, as the move towards Corporate farms seems to have hurt the US abvility to oproduce due to political and GOVT intervention. In the years when and prior to your GrandFather starting a family owned farm, the US did not import a lot of food products and that is the way it should have statyed. i so hope that at some point our country returns to that process of minimal importing of food. Plus it is one helluva of security gap having so much food and energy resource imported.
