Just ran a 424 yesterday as my uncle brought his new one over to see how it handled my 54" tiller.

Nice tractor, my first experience on a HST, and I didnt like it for tilling thats for sure. Hard to maintain a constant speed, every bump wanted to move my foot pressure on the go pedal. And speeding up/ slowing down when tilling makes for an uneven garden. But power wise, it handled it quite well.

It takes some time to get use to it. I was the same way at first. But now, I am a lot smoother and after 200 hrs the pedal seems less tuchy.

I'm awaiting the delivery of the cruise control. Once installed I'll post a full report. I've got about 35 hours on mine now and agree it's less and less touchy like colsonbrooke mentioned. My thing is I spread and spray a lot and prefer a steady speed so the rate is consistent.

Part of the issue was filling over plowed garden without discing. My foot pressure on the pedal seemed to change with every bump and it was a never ending issue.

CC or gear would have been a non issue

If the "tool " makes the jobs easier, then it is well worth it.

Can you guys with 424 check something: the amber lights on the ROPS are wired but not working. The fender lights act as both turn signals/hazards and running lights. Do yours function?

My amber lights flash as hazard lights and L +R's. My fender lights are running lights and L + R turn signal

Small world, The new tractors look good.
If you are looking at a grapple take a look at:MULTI-JAW GRAPPLE!
I have the tach-n-go along with the pallet forks, really good quality and the welds are fantastic.
I am also looking at there grapple.

Msb . . Just happened to browse yanmar and saw your post. Check out the mini grapple from tach-n-go's large selection of 4 or more different grapple choices for sub compacts. Nicecquality stuff. They'll know why you called about the mini grapple if you mention my name . . I've been waiting to get one too :)

I raised the question in another 424 post but I'll get your experiance as well: Any issues with the tractor wanting to tip with a heavy load in the bucket? Experiance before/after adding any tire ballast? Was test driving a LS 30 horse (don't remember the exact model) but a fully loaded bucket of dirt made it want to tip forward. The tires weren't filled and overall it was a bigger tractor than the Yanmars. Thanks!
