I'm about to go see the dealer for a new 4520/400CX/448 combo.

I have a horizontal splitter that attaches to the 3PH. The dealer (and literature) mentioned that the power beyond connection is what is normally used to run the splitter, but I gather from other threads that if I do this, the 3PH is disconnected while the splitter is in use.

Since it is useful to be able to adjust the splitter height, I'm thinking that I'll have to spring for the third SCV, then bungie the lever down. The splitter has its own control. Am I thinking correctly, here?

I had some concerns that there wouldn't be enough flow through the SCV, but then it can't possibly be worse than on my ancient B414, which is what I'm using now. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Has anyone run a splitter through the rear SCV? Since they are 1/2 inch fittings, it ought to be okay, I'm thinkin'...

thanks,

Tom.

Tom,
I believe if you look into this more, you will find that you
can still use the power beyond for your splitter, but instead
of using the return line back into the sump, you could hook
back up into the rockshaft circuit to keep the 3ph active.
I can't say whether or not the splitter would cause excessive
heat, maybe somebody else has done this and can advise better.
